WASHINGTON - The economic stimulus bill that President Bush says will hasten recovery from recession appears dead in the Senate and will probably be shelved, Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle said Tuesday. Daschle, D-S.D., said neither Republicans nor Democrats will have the 60 votes necessary to win approval of their competing measures and that the Senate will take up other business on Wednesday.
"It's with great regret I will pull the bill tomorrow," Daschle told reporters Tuesday.

What Daschle is doing is allowing 40 Senators to dictate what happens instead of 51.Why don't you email this statement to your Senator?

You nailed it. They only way the dems can get power is if America fails.
To: MeeknMing
Thanks! I'd appreciate it.
I just sent the jerks over there a nasty email. It really is poor internet etiquette on their part.

Dashole quote from an
AP article early today "It appears the Republicans want to block something," Daschle, D-S.D., said after noting that the GOP frequently has labeled him an obstructionist.
"I know there is plenty of opportunity for the blame game." This friggin liar has no shame.

Thank you Aggie for some tax sensibility.
Despite the Daschle flaming, do we really need a "stimulus?" What interests and factions would it favor? Aren't the dire economic predictions of a few months ago waning? And how can we get our $15 billion for airlines back?

if this guy was found dead, I would have a party

If Daschle thinks we don't need a "stilmuls bill" then he must think we can afford the Bush tax plan. I still can't figure out how he thinks this country gets its money.

I blame this on the the conservative voters of South Dakota ,North Dakota , and Montana for sending 5 rats to the senate.I guess the Republican potential candidates are too busy working and paying taxes. Time for some serious recruitment!!
To: Miss Marple
You are sooooooooooo wise.
President Bush is smart at this stuff. AND he does things differently than the dems expect.

How in hell are the democrats sinking fast? Have you check the polls lately? Bush has unprecendented approval ratings. In Congress, the GOP has the majority of public opinion on their side. The Democratic one-vote non-majority ruling in the Senate is in Peril. They have 6 more months to play these dumb games.
