Oh my GOD! Clinton will be throwing a FIT!! If this is a joke, it's a good one. I cannot see Bush getting a peace prize, but you never know about these people.

That would be a hoot. Clinton would just die! His legacy would be shot to he--. Still, it is the Nobel. If Bush were to win it would almost be a negative statement of sorts. But can you imagine the look on Clinton. Heck, if Buddy weren't already dead I'd fear for the poor pooch.
To: nopardons
You're welcome! I remember that Slick tried to buy the nomination--or was it the prize? Anyway, HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHA! ;-D
To: nopardons
"clintons lobbied for prize"
You don't suppose that tipped the scale in favor of Bush do you? I guess we'll never know what motivated them to choose Bush.

meets Alfred Nobel's criteria that the winner "shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies
What the...? I suppose that would be an indication of an individual worthy of a prize in some addle-brained Utopian's world, but that sounds like pure lunacy to me. People have been beating the crap out of each other since there were more than two of us. It ain't about to get better because some elites award a prize to a person or a pair.
How can a group of people be so deluded into thinking that all will be swell if we can just get the people to give each other hugs?

Harald Tom Nesvik, who represents the Party of Progress in the Norwegian parliament, said yesterday: "The background for my nomination is their decisive action against terrorism, something I believe in the future will be the greatest threat to peace. Unfortunately, sometimes you have to use force to secure peace." So, by his reasoning, George Patton should've won the Nobel prize in 1944. At last . . . a European who gets it!

LOL. Reminds me of the statement Clinton made to the effect of: "We had to bomb Serbia to obtain peace..."

Thanks, Doghty ! I am so glad that YOU and others ( except for Demi ... sheeeeeeeeeeeesh ! ) get the joke. I think that almost all FREEPERS could have a field day ( should President Bush win this ) with a " Caption This " thread of Slick's face. It would be such a hoot ! : - )

Who knows ?
Still, it IS delicious , to imagine what the Clintons are thinking about this. They must have been told. ROTFLOL

The morning of Sept. 11, naturally, I was on FR. A thread popped up about a plane hitting the world trade center and I was in shock. Pictures were posted almost immediately. I found an old television at my office, fiddled with the rabbit ears, and saw live the plane hitting the second tower. My shock had turned to panic. I was scared and sick considering the reports that 50,000 people worked in the twin towers. (One perceptive poster even speculated that this was Bid Laden's doing.)
When President Bush made his first statement, I thanked God that Al Gore was not at the helm, that we were being led by a strong man, a christian man. The President's speech on the 20th brought me assurances that this terror would be dealt with decisively and with dogged determination. My panic was replaced an inner peace thanks to our great President - he gets my peace prize.
God Bless President Bush.

Shoulder to shoulder, Blair and Bush nominated for peace prize Excerpt:
One has ordered his forces into battle more times than any other postwar British leader. The other threatens military action against "evil" nations and keeps a scorecard of dead al-Qaida leaders, marking each fatality with an X.
Now, Tony Blair and George Bush have received international recognition for their unswerving willingness to use force: a nomination for the 2002 Nobel peace prize.
The prime minister and US president have been jointly nominated for the accolade by a rightwing Norwegian politician who believes their military campaign against terrorism meets Alfred Nobel's criteria that the winner "shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses".
Harald Tom Nesvik, who represents the Party of Progress in the Norwegian parliament, said yesterday: "The background for my nomination is their decisive action against terrorism, something I believe in the future will be the greatest threat to peace. Unfortunately, sometimes you have to use force to secure peace."
Excellent news and well deserved by both, IMHO!
(((PING)

Thank you ! Most of us feel the same way. Ask those of us, who actually lost family and / or friends how we feel ; you'll get a a thumbs up , from us.
To: Brian Allen
Hi Brian , and thanks .... :-)
To: kattracks
Hurl-lery is overjoyed at the news!
To: kattracks
What did Blair do?
Oh...I get it. He's in there so Bush can win.
To: kattracks
"Peace through strength" award or what? Thats odd these days.
To: kattracks
Boy, I'll bet Klintoon is smacking himself 'long side the head! Why didn't he think of that? Instead of desparately trying to get a Nobel Peace prize for himself by bringing Israel and the Palestinians to the peace table, he could have gone into Afghanistan and kicked some ass!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
lest we forget
THE CULPABILITY OF WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON

Somebody won't be happy to hear about this...
