Daniel Pearl was apparently delving deeply into Pakistani connections to the Richard Reid shoe-bombing attempt and the Osama bin Laden network. I don't know much about Pakistan but their "police" system sounds like it is as effective as the PLO.
That picture of Daniel with the gun to his head is extremely upsetting.
Questions: Who is helping Pearl, who is helping the enemy? Why was Pearl grabbed as opposed to any other reporters? How did the kidnappers find out that he was Jewish? Did they make him tell them?

It is encouraging that Muhammad Ali is speaking out asking for kindness and compassion. One of the few American Muslims doing anything....

Given that emails are pretty easy to track, one wonders what is going on here? I mean how often do you hear of kidnappers using email to disclose the details of their ransom requests?

Notice that the terrorist's white garmet is completely clean, that the cloth backdrop is completely clean, and that the terrorist's hands are uncalloused.
Also, it appears to be a bicycle chain serving as handcuffs.
You don't get that clean in rural Pakistan. He's being held inside a large city by people who have NOT been trained recently in Al-Qaeda camps, would be my guess.
Also, the use of the internet for all communication suggests an urban environment. I suspect that the text of the message can be back-traced to a server within a very short distance of at least one terrorist.
If they won't act, we will.

I agree that American Muslims have been strangely (?) silent on the subject of terrorism carried out in the name of Allah. Before 9/11 I was neutral on Muslims; now I think we must all assume they are guilty until proven innocent. It's the only safe bet.

It doesn't take a genius to guess that a guy called Daniel Pearl is Jewish, but his religion or ethnicity is entirely beside the point. He is an American in enemy hands. Paradoxically, the best way to help this man is to ignore his plight entirely. They will only kill him and try to kill others if they think we care. Of course we do, but it is stone-face time.
At the same time we must demonstrate a special avidity and glee in pursuing his kidnappers to the ends of the earth and wiping them out until there are no more left.
The attacks of September 11 were not vague protest against an abstract entity like America. The enemy wants to kill everyone of us, individually and personally. They will not rest and they will not sleep until they have your little daughter in their filthy clutches. They will come after each and every one of us, Jew, Christian, atheist, black, white, asian or latino, until we kiss their smelly feet.
Pray for Daniel Pearl. But if we cannot save him, then we owe his unborn child the certain knowledge that we tracked down and terminated his killers.

That is amazingly observant of you. It didn't even occur to me when I looked at that picture. But the emails did make me think they were in a populated area in order to have connectivity.

but their "police" system sounds like it is as effective as the PLO Pre 9/11 perhaps. Now I believe they will do all they can to help keep this reporter alive. They do not want to become the next Afganistan. The PLO is a pure terrorist orgnization from top to bottom. They will be taken out soon.

No, it doesn't take a genius, but I don't know how familiar Pakistanis are with European names. It may be that they didn't really know and just accused him of being in the Mossad after they were told he wasn't in the CIA.
I hope they just let him go.

Ali is the
only American Muslim I have heard speaking out critically of the attacks of 9/11 and expressing American patriotism. I've been no big fan of his in the past but do respect this.
I also find myself wondering, in view of the deafening silence of Muslims in condemnation of the attacks , if some are speaking but the media won't tell us about it.
We need to keep in mind that the media, to a great extent, control what we hear. Even here on FR, the vast majority of our info is from some source in the media. Just try posting an article that doesn't have a source if you don't believe that and see how quickly you get flamed ..... :-)

I heard an interview with his wife, there was a woman with the same mind set as they being ripped apart by Hannity the other night saying we should just sit down and have a face to face chat with the terrorists and insure their promise that they won't attack the Olympics here and then trust them not to, that we all owe it to society to put our lives at risk for the hope of a peaceful solution. Just plain stupidly la la land liberals.
His wife said, "I just don't understand what's happening, my husband an I are both journalists and we don't pick a side, now I don't know what to think". duh
They may have a problem picking a side, but I don't, I pick the side of our service men that will have to risk their lives now to go in and try to free this moral desert from the mess he got himself into. I hope he stands as an example to brain dead liberals of what happens when you sit down to chat with terrorists.

The State Department warned U.S. citizens Wednesday to consider carefully plans to travel to Pakistan. Dang, guess I'll unpack my bags.

I don't know much about Pakistan but their "police" system sounds like it is as effective as the PLO. Or as the Chicago PD in the Capone era.
Follow the money.

I'm not really clear what you are saying his wife said. If she was explaining that, as journalists, they don't "pick a side," that wouldn't be a liberal thing to say. She may have just meant that, as a journalist, Daniel expected to be treated as neutral so he could talk to both sides.

Think that pearl may have had a sat cellular link to his camera and laptop to send home stories ? Hmmmmmmm????
They could be using his own connection versus any pakistani ISP which in that country is some sort of snake I believe :o)
Stay Safe !
