Some FReepers have nicks that are obvious in their origin, others don't. I've seen several that probably have interesting stories behind them.
I thought it would be cool to see where FReepers get their handles from. If you don't like this topic, DON'T POST HERE! No one forces you to read this. I'm sure other people may be interested. If I'm the only one, let me know so I can crawl away in shame.

I decided to use ex-Texan because I supported 'Dubya' for President. I'm an ex-Texan because I was born in Texas but my parents took me back to California when I was three months old.

Operation Clinton Cleanup was a direct response to the changing of Operation Infinite Justice to Operation Enduring Freedom... This was the only decision G.W.B. has made wrong so far.

I'm not doubting you're a shooter.Don't. He's good. Very good. I've shot with him. I look forward to shooting with him again in the future.
My screen-name is a semi-random collection of letters and numbers selected by the FCC and assigned to me.

I live in downtown Minneapolis, which is the county seat of Hennepin County.
Thus the name "HennepinPrisoner"....as I am in a sea of "blue" here.

Because I am proud of the South. It's a wonderful place to live and Southerners are kind, generous, hardworking people. Even though I have a Yankee accent (Army brat), northern Alabama has always been home base because my Dad's family was here and my Dad was stationed at Redstone Arsenal. I've been back here now for 20 years and have no plans to leave.

know anything about the so-called "smart growth", that supposedly protects farms, but actually takes control away from farmers?Got a year?
We have NH2020 going on up in Nevada County and regional planning going on here in Sacramento. You get things like the City working a deal with environmentalists and developers and a judge deciding which property will be set aside to mitigate. The land in question is outside the city's sphere of influence and the city doesn't want to buy the development rights so they are just condemning the land. The county will do nothing because they want to protect the airport. The land will be given over to the conservancy who will turn it into habitat for snakes and birds. The airport is already one of the most dangerous when it comes to bird strikes.
Putting away the soapbox now.

Interesting thread.
Cacique is the Carib and Taino word for paramount chief. When the Spaniards landed with Cristobal Colon they adopted the word to name all paramount chiefs of the indigenous tribes.
My father headed and underground anti-communist organization in an un-named country. Among his many aliases he was known as Cacique. When he passed away ten years ago I dopted his nickname as a screenname wherever I go on the net.
Now hopefully people will stop asking me about it.
BTW it's pronounced Ka See Ke ........
