Promises kept means we conservatives will work our hearts out for this guy in 2004! :) A few weeks ago I said this was a litmus test for this Prez's relationship with us and we wanted him to prove he was different from his father. Well President Bush passed it with flying colors. Color me happy! I know now he's going to win a second term for sure. And congratulations to Otto Reich and Eugene Scalia on getting their well deserved positions in this Administration! :)

It's a provision in the US constitution under presidential powers. Since advice and consent is supposed to be a two-way street, the founders foresaw times when the legislative and executive would disagree. They gave the major power to the president when they added the recess appointment provision.

This is great. About a week ago, the NYT ran an editorial criticizing the Democrats about their tactics in this stuff. They don't approve (of course) of Scalia and Reich but they really didn't approve of Daschle and Dodd. Said they were totally out of line with these low-ball tactics. So, W's even got cover on the left for this one. Hee hee. Go W!

This makes my day! I watched the Scalia Senate hearing on C-SPAN and it was the worst example of American politics I have ever seen. Democrats b!tching about his stand on ergonomics even though legislation to enforce (and reinforce) the democrat position lost in the Senate by a wide margin.

This isn't exactly correct. If the Senate really opposed these nominations they would have voted to reject them. The headline should actually read: "Circumventing a dormant Senate mired in self-imposed gridlock . . ."
