I have never used the bookmarks. They take up a third of your profile page so why bother.

Why not instead post the links in HTML at the bottom of your page? Click my profile for an example.

I sort of have this question myself. I can edit my existing bookmarks but cannot add any new ones. I don't recall how I added the original ones.

Before the new FR software, we were able to 'bookmark' a certain thread and it would be logged onto your profile page, then when you clicked 'edit bookmarks' on your profile page, you could remove any bookmark that was there.

Maybe you should send a private FReepmail to John Robinson, our webmaster/technical guru.

You can only delete them from your profile page, if you have any. To edit existing ones, make a new bookmark and replace the info with the edited text from an older one. The Profile stuff will go wide-left of you dont have bookmarks entered. Look at the top of the page you are on now and you'll see "Bookmark".

Send $5 to my FReepmail account. Thanks.

Michael, in case its not clear yet, you can only "edit" bookmarks you have already added ("edit" is a bit of a misnomer in this case, you are basically allowed to delete individual threads you have bookmarked, not edit titles and such). And you can only add bookmarks by using the "Bookmark" links THAT USED TO BE at the top or at the bottom of the thread (along with the Threads/Comments/Self-Search/Search...etc).

The Bookmark link is GONE for some reason with the new software, therefore you can't add any bookmarks. Why its gone, I do not know, perhaps removed temporarily due to forum software performance or other problems.

How can I change my preferences? They are currently showing up as disabled. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I don't actually prefer disabled.

The first 2000 Michaels didn't have this problem. You're probably eating too much cheese.

Indeed.

This must be what qualifies your post as breaking news.

This is funny, because I always noticed those blue-colored links to threads that people have on the left side of their profile pages and I have absolutely no clue how they get there. And I did exactly the same thing you did, clicking the edit bookmarks.
LOL !! Fortunately, I don't care if I have any links on the profile page.
Good luck trying to figure this out. It doesn't look like anybody wants to fill you in, LOL!

Michael, you're probably getting so much grief in this thread because you posted it as "breaking news", which its not.

Lots of funny comments here though. The funniest ones appear to be from those who didn't even notice that the "Bookmark" function was gone until this thread. I won't mention any names, but you know who you are...:)
