Note - I'm looking for ideas that people can do as individuals, or at most in groups of 2-3 people. This effort will not entail forming yet another pro-gun group (I'm a member of many already), simply because fundraising, overhead, administrative stuff, etc. will pull energy and resources away from our primary mission.
Since Freepers are known for their activism, and are more likely than John Q. Public to be willing to work on their own, I'd especially like input from the pro-RKBA people here.

Please explain further about the "sunset" aspect and what exactly is our, and our "representatives", responsibility.

Prices rarely fall -- once folks got used to paying too much, they will continue to. Look at Sterling Silver, as an example -- prices for a 6-piece flatware place settings went from $33 to $160 (with only 5 pieces), and never came down, although the price of silver dropped through the floor.
However, as pessamistic as I may be about prices, I wonder what you have in mind -- particularly considering the AWB was W's daddy's idea. Nothing Bush said during the campaign, or since his election, makes me think he will support sunset.

I think one thing important is to remember what happened to the dems in 1994, after they passed this.
And send lots of letters to Daschale, Lott, Hastert, and Gephardt and ask them not to get this up for a vote.
And we all need to contact our congresscritters on this.

While I sincerely hope this ban gets scrapped in 2004, I have to wonder if it was not a ban on paper only to appease the anti-gun pansies. I've been to many gun shows since the ban was enacted and the only thing I've noticed is that "assault" weapons have dropped in price. Most weapons and magazines are still plentiful. I paid over $400 for my Chinese Mac-90 in '93. Now I see higher quality Romanian models going for $250.

The most significant thing you can do to ensure that the 1994 bill is not renewed in 2004 is to work to get a solid pro-gun majority into Congress.
Contribute, volunteer, join your local pro-gun advocacy groups, get involved.
Letters help. Volunteers manning booths at county fairs help more.

This will be an interesting issue. If the ban is passed again by a Republican Congress, gun owners will be demoralized and will not support Republican candidates that fall. The result will be big losses for the GOP. If the Democrats pass the ban with just a few Republican traitors helping them, they could face big defeats by angry gunowners. If President Bush signs this bill as he has said that he would, his support will drop dramatically. We must continue to tie gun control to the whole "culture of passivity" that allowed the terrorist attacks of 9/11 to succeed.

I have an idea, and you gave it to me. Just keep talking! I didn't know this law was sunsetting, just asked my husband and he didn't know, either. You mean we have a chance of letting it expire!?
I'm dreaming, I'm sure. If this is just a dream, don't wake me up, please!
