Anyone interested in ensuring that the 1994 semi-automatic rifle and standard-capacity magazine bans sunset, please contact me at SunsetTheBan@aol.com. I have some ideas to bring it about, and would like to start an email list (moderated, by invitation only) to discuss others. This list will not include yet another debate on whether or not the ban will expire in 2004; its purpose is to discuss strategy and plans for making sure that our legislators realize that letting the ban sunset is in their best interest - at least, if they want to keep their jobs.
Again, email me if you want to join the list. As I said before, the list will be moderated, people who want to join must ask to be added (this is to keep the trolls & antis out; no sense letting the opposition know what were up to!), and discussion will be limited to a single issue strategy and tactics on making sure the sunset provision stays intact. Personally, Im looking forward to purchasing 30-round AR15 magazines for $6 again after September 13, 2004.

We must continue to tie gun control to the whole "culture of passivity" that allowed the terrorist attacks of 9/11 to succeed. You've got a big AMEN from me on that one!

We must continue to tie gun control to the whole "culture of passivity" that allowed the terrorist attacks of 9/11 to succeed. Excellent tactic. This is the kind of discussion I was hoping to generate on the email list, not yet another re-hash of whether or not the ban will sunset, but how to make it happen.
Please, if you haven't sent me an email yet, do so if you're interested in this issue. I'm not looking to form yet another pro-gun group; I want ideas on how gun owners, working as individuals or in small groups (2-3 people) throughout the nation, can bring about this change in our national policy.

The wicked witch of the West (DiFi) is ready to introduce legs. that mirrors Calf law for the Feds. She has to be stopped imo first!

One very noticable effect: New full capacity magazines are no longer available to regular citizens, only to LEA's/LEO's (who are obviously superior to we citizens). For example, you can't buy a new Glock magazine with greater than 10 round capacity. As someone who has had a full capacity magazine fail, and given that used full-caps are in the $100-$125 range, versus $25 for a new 10-rounder, I'm pi$$ed!
Also, the 1994 law added all sorts of restrictions regarding "evil features" on evil black sport utility rifles. You can't have more than two of things like removeable magazines; pistol grip; flash supressor; bayonet lug; grenade launching attachment; and probably one or two others I can't remember. This effectively made it very difficult for citizens to own / acquire military-style rifles, especially surplus ones. This part of the law was passed in response to all the drive-by bayonetings and rifle-grenadings in gang/ghetto areas < /sarcasm>.

I don't see a way to stop Swinestein any time soon. The best thing would have been to defeat her in the last election, but California just isn't voting for conservatives anymore. If you know a way to make California voters wake up and grow some courage, I'd like to hear it.

Sorry I have no new ideas to help Kalifornia. I moved out after 25 years becasue I felt that the only thing we were doing was arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. DiFi is a pox on the land. The really funny thing is that she would be nothing except for guns! Her whole career got started after a shooting incident. Makes me ill.... Good luck - but as long as the PC police are in charge forget it.

If he re-enacts the ban. He's toast in 2004. Gaurantee it. Amen.
He's flying high in the polls now, so he can afford to grow government. I, as many others who want a smaller government have been distrubed by his ignoring of his base since 911. However, to many of us he can be redeemed despite his letting many ill-concieved, terrible big government bills get past his desk.
However, ANY anti 2A legislation and he can take his good-natured ass back to Texas.

I have an idea, and you gave it to me. Just keep talking! I didn't know this law was sunsetting, just asked my husband and he didn't know, either. You mean we have a chance of letting it expire!?
I'm dreaming, I'm sure. If this is just a dream, don't wake me up, please!

That's what the email list is for - to exchange ideas, and in a forum that is 1) relatively secure from anti's, and 2) won't have flame-fests or be a high-traffic list w/ a lot of "noise" posts, because it is moderated.

Is it OK to let people know about this who aren't Freepers? Like could this be posted on the MCRGO forum (if Dan from MI hasn't done it already?)

I don't think he understands that he has already stated that he will not let it sunset already. So the NRA and the GOA better start putting pressure or it will be perm.

I have a few reasons why he'll be toast if he signs it.
