There's many reasons I think Catholicism is fantasy, but telling a child a pedophile is your conduit to God is ludicrous
Can't argue with that. If the church knew he was a pedophile and let him continue in his role, well that would be a serious claim on the church. Since I assume that they did not, your arguement is with this bad priest and not the church that employed him.

Dear Hank, this information is for CATHOLICS. NOBODY, BUT NOBODY is expecting YOU to vote as a Catholic.
Hey Redhead, I'm not Catholic and this Hank character's stupid remarks about voting pro-abortion as a statement against Catholicism is just that .. a stupid statement. One doesn't have to be Catholic to be pro-life. I only wish MORE Catholics would follow the Pope's advise ... let's start with Ted Kennedy and Madonna!! ;-)

I find it disappointing that so many priests will not speak to their parishoners about voting for pro-life candidates, for fear of losing their tax exempt status, while the dems, hillary and gore, for example, practically campaigned in churches throughout the country.

How many divisions does the Pope have, by the way? The pope is no foreigner - he is the earthly leader of all of us, no matter what arbitrary, man-made, earthly boundaries we live within.

So what your saying, essentially, is the Catholic Church is another fifth column in the US. Right?

My original post contained the following three links. It is quite obvious no one bothered to check them out. The responses have been too kind.

Superstition

Religion

Christianity

If you really want to get mad at me, see these links and click the [read more/make comments] link for each.

Your original post contained these links AFTER your asinine statements about supporting pro-abortion candidates.

Your simply calling this statement a hyperbole, or pointing to humanism or new age definitions of what you DO believe does not take away from your unwanted, uncalled for and unwelcome comment to those that simple want to protect the unborn.

You need to work on your "approach" if this is your way to start a comparitive religion discussion. Perhaps another thread would be more appropriate for your last attempt at normal discussion.

Slow down lady. You're almost giving Catholics a bad name.
Just go with the flow and don't isolate yourself.
Redhead is doing just fine, Fred. I'm not Catholic but if I was I would be proud of every word she uttered ... Go get 'em, Red!! ;-)

1. Isn’t conscience the same as my own opinions and feelings?
And doesn’t everyone have the right to his or her own conscience?

Conscience is NOT the same as your opinions or feelings. Conscience cannot be identical with your feelings because conscience is the activity of your intellect in judging the rightness or wrongness of your actions or omissions, past, present, or future, while your feelings come from another part of your soul and should be governed by your intellect and will.

Conscience is not identical with your opinions because your intellect bases its judgment upon the natural moral law, which is inherent in your human nature and is identical with the Ten Commandments.

The above definitions and statements are priceless and accurate to a "T" but are totally useless to an intellectually challenged liberal.

These statements are based on the truth and liberals have no use nor capacity for the truth especially if it conflicts with whatever they are yelling at the top of their voice>

Thereby rendering their ears, with which they should be listening, useless.

At the turn of the last century the mainline Protestant religions agreed with the Holy Father that, Abortion is the killing of innocent life, Divorce is an evil women can not be ordained and Homosexuals can not knowingly be ordained either. Now 100 years later all over them have essentially drifted away from these positions and are finding it hard to fill their pews. The Roman Catholic Churh is the only large Christian Church that is growing both here and world wide ( if you are thinking that illegal Mexicans and other Hispanic Catholics can account for the growth forget it thats factored in for the USA). The others are shrinking - you explain it.

More and more parishes in the country, led by the regional pro-life bishops, are talking about Life in the church, not just abortion but euthanasia as well. It is up to the Faithful to encourage parishes who are NOT talking Life to do so. I am fortunate to live in a diocese that is active in the pro-life movement, raises money, helps women find alternatives to abortion, etc., etc.

One thing I envy about Protestant churches is that they do tend to be more political, more willing to talk about how voting for moral values in the voting booth. As long as a church is not advocating a CANDIDATE, or giving a candidate resources or money, it is perfectly acceptable to talk about ISSUES and the importance of voting for candidates who support the same issues as the church.
