The women who began the OLG mission are friends of mine. Great ladies. The mission is God's work.
To: Hank Kerchief
Nice, clear, cogent argument.
I thought so as well, thanks for the complement!!
In case you have difficulty understanding it, there is a difference between a "baby-killer" (like those in a Massachusettes monastery) and a pro-abortion candidate.
Ah, another "anti-Catholic" slam ... wow, you are full of them, aren't you?
There was also a bit of hyperbole in my post, but I suppose rhetoric is not something Catholics appreciate, right?
First of all, one does not have to be Catholic (which I am not) to see the stupidity in the argument you put forth, second, anyone can see that you are just trying to be offensive like some sort of shock-jock on the radio, so that you can "strike a note" ...
If Sorry! Hank, for you to claim this to be simply a "hyperbole" and in another message claim that you don't "hate" is just non-sensical. "I can eat a millon of these" is a hyperbole, i.e. another way of saying something looks very tasty to you and/or you are very hungry.
Your "so called" hyperbole, once translated, says simply "hate" or extreme misguided anti-catholic bias, nothing less.

There's many reasons I think Catholicism is fantasy, but telling a child a pedophile is your conduit to God is ludicrous
To: Gophack
Even if you are not Catholic, most of these arguments should hold water for you. Agreed.

I posted this article because I am a firm believer in protecting the lives of the unborn, and yes, I am a practicing Catholic. I didn't intend for this to become a debate on religion, but rather a reflection on how ALL Christians -- Catholics and Protestants -- should think about elections. If all Christians vote pro-life consistently, think about all the babies that can be saved.

Telling anyone that cinciphil is rational or honest would be vile.
To: cinciphil
...as well as ludicrous.

Dear Hank, this information is for CATHOLICS. NOBODY, BUT NOBODY is expecting YOU to vote as a Catholic.

This voting information is for CATHOLICS ONLY. If you are not a CATHOLIC, none of this applies to YOU. God forbid than anyone would expect YOU to vote the same way a CATHOLIC votes!!! I grew up in a town that hated Catholics like you do, Mr. Kerchief, and I can tell you that their attitude was one of the reasons I chose to become Catholic. I figured if the Catholic faith was something that drove those hypocritical people into fits of ill-tempered fury like you just exhibited, then there must be a lot of truth to it. That was almost fifty years ago, and I have seen Catholic-haters like you CONVERT. Watch out. God is not mocked.

Slow down lady. You're almost giving Catholics a bad name.
Just go with the flow and don't isolate yourself.
To: redhead
I think you ought to take Fred Mertz' advice.
It has always bemused me that Catholics and many Portestants as well are so thin-skinned. As soon as someone says something that disagrees with their view they go right off, becoming beligerant and accusative. Here I have been accused of hate, of being anti-Catholic, even of being queer.
I believe it is wrong for Americans to allow the ruler of a foreign power to dictate how they should vote, even when those dictations are right? (The Vatican is a foreign power to which we send an ambasador.)
I believe if a religion allows or convinces someone otherwise that religion is oppressive and superstitious. You do not have to agree, and you are free to explain where I am wrong. You are also free to be totally irrational and vindictive, which you have evidently chosen to be.
Hank

Hankie-
Your sudden attempt at coherent discourse is funny - but it doesn't negate your asinine comments about voting for abortion-lovers simply because the Pope advises the opposite. Nothing is more childish and as redhead mentions, your ranting is excellent PR for the Catholic Church. How many divisions does the Pope have, by the way? The pope is no foreigner - he is the earthly leader of all of us, no matter what arbitrary, man-made, earthly boundaries we live within.

Did you read the title?
A BRIEF CATECHISM FOR CATHOLIC VOTERS
Since you are not Catholic, your commnents here are simply so much farting in the parlor.
