What does it take to DUMP Chester Lott from his "Republican Leadership" position in the Senate?
This dope is THE spineless loser of all spineless losers.
To: GeneD
Due to welfare reform, the democraps here have no political funding. The free handouts aren't as easy to get ahold of like they used to be.
They need that foreign money!!!
If we drill our own oil, the democraps would have zilch to pay for their re-elections.
They don't want to bite the hand that feeds them.

Nice spin.

Actually...if it were actually this bill that was up on the floor, it would have passed because the Republicans have the 50 vote majority needed to pass it. But since they were trying to attach this to an unrelated bill and end debate now, they needed 60 votes, which it appears they couldn't get. Now we're beholden to Daschle to actually put the energy bill on the floor. Yippee. Still...the Republicans should have had the vote anyway to reveal all the people crappy enough to vote against this.

I would agree, however the only answer to this nasty senate problem we are having is to elect more votes to the senate. We must retake that body.

Throw in a pair of cajones and you might get half way to a conservative RINO.

Let me get this straight...we're in a war in the Middle East and the Senate is considering a railroad pensions bill before national energy legislation--and the GOP cannot win the argument that Dashole is putting partisan concerns over national security?! Lott and company are beyond hope.

by virtue of Vermont Sen. James Jeffords' decision to bolt the GOP and become a Democratic-aligned independent earlier this yearJeffords is a traitor, just like his buddy Abdul hippie Hamid.

Think how popular Republicans would be if they once, just once, put up a fight for something the country wants and desperately needs!

Senate GOP gives up
Thank God that President Bush doesn't lead the war the way Lott "leads" the Senate GOP.

"...this is actually better than usual for the Senate GOP." They did fine. And the Senate GOP will do much better a year from now - when they pick up 4, maybe 5 seats. I believe that this coming Nov., the Democrats have 17 Senator seats up for grabs/it'll be our turn to kick some butt - and regain control of the Senate!!

Hold on a sec. The repubs have many more seats coming up to re-election than the Dems. We're not at all expected to pick up four seats. Besides, it barely matters with Lott in charge. Bring in Nickles already.

Yeah, much as I'd love to ladel some more garbage on Lott, the Senate rules made it a moot subject: Lott could have had the backbone of a bull elephant (nice metaphor, eh?) and it would've made no difference at all. Without the 60 votes (11 Rats) there's absolutely nothing on heaven or earth that could be done about it -- they'd have lost the vote 5 minutes later anyway.
The blame on this one really belongs to Daschle and no one else.

GOP cannot win the argument that Dashole is putting partisan concerns over national security Oh, they can probably win the arguement all day long. It wouldn't matter a whit. If you don't have 60 votes you don't have 60 votes, and you can win every arguement for 1,000 years and still lose the vote. And unlike squirrely Republicans, the Rats always stick together enough to win the vote -- they will let the country go to hell long, long before they'll let their party lose a vote.

Hey, Trent Lott: Liberace called. He wants his WIMPINESS back.

Sad to say this is not correct. In 2002 there are 20 Republicans and only 14 Democrats up for re-election in the Senate. While I see a hand full we might beat I see some we could lose.
To: NC Conservative
Way too late for that. Frankly the lack of a sign of life in the Republican Party is disturbing. The only difference between Lott, Jeffords and most of the other so-called Republicans is the name they attach to them selves. They vote with the Senate Democrats more often than with the House Republicans.

THIS MAKES ME SICK!! lott needs to go. i feel sorry for bush - the masses our supporting him but the republican power brokers duck and cover
