Actually...if it were actually this bill that was up on the floor, it would have passed because the Republicans have the 50 vote majority needed to pass it. But since they were trying to attach this to an unrelated bill and end debate now, they needed 60 votes, which it appears they couldn't get. Now we're beholden to Daschle to actually put the energy bill on the floor. Yippee. Still...the Republicans should have had the vote anyway to reveal all the people crappy enough to vote against this.

I would agree, however the only answer to this nasty senate problem we are having is to elect more votes to the senate. We must retake that body.

Yeah, much as I'd love to ladel some more garbage on Lott, the Senate rules made it a moot subject: Lott could have had the backbone of a bull elephant (nice metaphor, eh?) and it would've made no difference at all. Without the 60 votes (11 Rats) there's absolutely nothing on heaven or earth that could be done about it -- they'd have lost the vote 5 minutes later anyway.
The blame on this one really belongs to Daschle and no one else.
