We need the stewardship of 5,000 Free Republic members to insure the continuation of the Free Republic Life Form!

Jim Robinson said in yesterday's post: "My projections are that our regular monthly expenses for next year will be running in the neighborhood of $22,000 per month, or approximately $264,000 total for the year. This means we will need to raise approximately $66,000 per quarter."

If 5,000 Free Republic members who believe in paying their own way and that no free lunch ever exists, pledge $5/month. Jim's goals and needs will be quickly surpassed!

5,000 good stewards of Free Republic pledging $5/month will total $75,000 per quarter. That would allow Jim/John a little breathing room!

Many of us donate more per month than that. So please don't reduce your donation. We just need 5,000 regular pledgers to make things easier for Jim.

Are there 5,000 good Stewards out there who can afford $5/month to keep alive the Free Republic Life Form?

One way to afford this is to cancel your subscription to your left wing fish wrap or bird cage liner. Donate half of that monthly cost to your favorite charity and the rest to Free Republic. If you do this, you remove your money from the enemies of America and invest it with the friends of America, Free Republic! That would be a double winner for America!

Become one of the 5,000 Freepers who believe that there is no Free Republic lunch and that only parasites want something for free! Sign up for $5/month on a monthly auto payment plan!

Bingo! That change was at winner several ways. The newspapers were probably left winged fish wraps. So when you stopped buying them, they lost $'s and a reader!

Next your money went to a good conservative cause, Free Republic.

You are better off like I am to read the news from Free Republic and get the feelings of our peers re the posted articles!

Last we get to read articles that we would never see in liberal newspapers!

So it is a multiple win for you, a win for Free Republic and a loss for the left wing fish wrap!

Yes, the auto monthly pledge makes it easy for the giver and for Free Republic! For us, it is one more thing that we don't have to think about! For Free Republic, it means that they have a predictable monthly inflow to keep Free Republic up and going!

That's a great idea, however, I am concerned that some will see it as an elitist symbol, a "get out of jail free" card for flaming and otherwise acting rudely. Both the "haves" and "have nots" may interpret or use the symbol incorrectly. I am not sure how to correct this possible problem.

I know what you mean John but if you implemented this "symbol" for monthly donators, I think you would be pleasantly surprised at just how few "have nots" there will be. Once a Freeper is recognized for his/her monthly donations, be it an asterisk or a color code on the screenname, you will see others rush to become regular donors as well. You guys will never have to have a fundraiser again! Forget what we were saying about a different color for this level and another color for that level. Just give the same symbol whether the person is donating $5 a month or $50 a month. That way we don't have the problem of people "pulling rank" on others (i.e. "I give more to Free Republic than you, blah, blah, blah"). The symbol will simply state that this Freeper is serious enough about Free Republic that he/she sees fit to donate to it monthly. Whether it is $5 or $500 a month is between the donor and Free Republic. Nobody else needs to know.

I have been on a $20 monthly and will continue at least that level for as long as FreeRepublic is alive. There is nowhere I can find all the news that matters, along with insightful commentary.

Exactly. And your excellent proposal to get 5,000 Freepers to donate at least $5 a month is scaring the hell out of the scumbags who want to drag us down. They know how powerful an organization we can become with a little cash flow. That is why they will come here to circle, yip and bite at this excellent idea of recognizing those Freepers who care enough to make the monthly donations. They don't want to see a flood of people donating to this site, which is what will happen when we start recognizing the Freepers who contribute and put some peer pressure on those who don't. Because if we can get every Freeper donating at least $5 a month...well, you do the math. Let's just say it puts us in major media territory. We'll be doing our own goddamned cable news channel before long. FNN - Freeper News Network. Now doesn't that send shivers up your spine!
