Now I'm happy to say that I have absolutely no intent of ever shutting down Free Republic. The only reason that was in my title was because of the AFers claim. . .Yea! I knew that MUST have been wrong yesterday! !I also want to thank all of you who have posted your supporting comments. I'd like to reply to all of them, but looks like the count is now running to 2,000 and beyond and there is no way that I can respond to each one individually. I thank each and every one of you and I thank God that you are on our team.

I'm becoming more convinced every day that the newspapers are now using FR to not only decide which stories to publish in the daily fish wrap but which ones to give highest importance. There are very few articles, other than state and local in the daily San Diego Union Tribune that haven't been here for a day or 2 before.
If we can achieve a million plus registered, FreeRepublic will be the defining voice of politics in this nation.

Not everyone is making enough money to pay that, for one. I know some people will have a very hard time believing that could be true, especially if someone has a PC. I speak for myself by way of example. I am way underemployed due to health problems. Also, I believe JimRob has pointed out on prior occasions that this puts the site into the same category of restricting access to news under the Fair Use clause, for the same reasons as noted in his post, above.
After reading all 2000+ posts last night, I went to Freeper Donations and contributed $10 a month to FreeRepublic. Well worth the knowledge/information I get.

The war against the left is a constant and they are plotting as we speak, under their rocks on how to gain back the White house and congress. I fear FReepers will once again have to man the barricades and hit the streets and act as the vanguard of sanity. Just like CITIBANK the left never sleeps.
Freerepublic is a necessary focal point to be able to organize on a nationwide basis. That alone is reason enough for it to exist. Until the day that the staid gentlemanly conservatives learn that it is not beneath us to hit the streets and be activist in our passions, our little band of warriors will be necessary.
Don't forget for a minute the impact that FReepers had in the great November 2000 debacle.
