A plane in North Carolina in Monroe just dumped a blanket of white powder over a daycare center.Not joking here..breaking on NC News station FOX 18

Now, I mean it...there are so many people that are close to the action that give citizen's reports...and then we have real journalists here also that post their reports when live as they happen etc. It is amazing. I love FR!!!

I believe you are correct. In order to disperse widely, the anthrax would have to be in microscopic granules and there is no civilian crop duster with the tehnology to disperse granules so miniscule, from what I've read. Only the military has machinery to do this.

You mean like the Military Crop Duster, whos home base was in south FLA, that went missing 3-4(?) weeks ago?

If this is anthrax it is a stupid attack. Everyone exposed or potentially exposed will know it and be in a position to seek treatment.

If they get enough people with inhalational Antrhax (and that's the kind you'd get from an aerial release) they will kill plenty.

The News Media have to apply some sense. It is pretty clear that this story is either a huge hoax or a piece of total nonsense. To report it seriously without evidence makes a mockery of those people who are truly under threat - primarily those who live and work in certain high profile areas of New York and Washington.

I'm a bit late to this "party"; just saw this thread. I'm 10 miles or so from the Monroe airport, a general aviation facility 20-25 miles SE of the center of Charlotte.

I gather there was some media coverage of the event earlier, but as of 8:30 EST, regular programming is on all TV stations as well as on WBT radio (which as as close as we have to an all-news station).

I would surmise either a hoax, a crop-dusting error, or an honest mistake from an onlooker. Sadly, we'll probably have thousands of similar panic attacks around the nation. Remember the boy who cried "wolf"; if one of these events ever does turn out to be real, the false alarms which will likely precede it may cause a delay in the acknowledgement of the "real thing." Which, of course, is precisely what the terrorists want to see.
