I think the author doesn't know the meaning of the phrase hoi polloi.
We also know that Hill and Bill rarely travel into the Red Country, avoiding the hoi polloi, preferring instead to mingle with those closer to their own station on the coasts.

"Hoi polloi" has acquired two contradictory meanings over the years. It originally meant "the elite", but it has come to mean "the great unwashed", in an ironic way.
To: Tony in Hawaii
Huh. First time I've come across the ironic use. I'll take your word for it.

Hi, PJ... I know what you're talking about, but don't have those saved anywhere- mayhap someone else has them handy? They are very damaging, IMO!

I'm fairly certain neither the clintons nor the clintophilliacs know- or care- how much the average Joe or Jane detests them, but I find that when I can get people to be candid with me, they utterly despise them all....

I do not care for Queen Hillary I. However, I wouldn't have booed her. These folks really are heros. Why would you not have booed her?
I would consider it my patriotic duty to boo her sorry face if I ever ran across it in person. It ranks up there above the president's request that we go out and spend money to invest in America to keep the economy rolling.
hillarhea! is lower than dirt and she needs to be made to know it.

I think the author doesn't know the meaning of the phrase hoi polloi.
I think she does. see www.m-w.com/dictionary

I think the author doesn't know the meaning of the phrase hoi polloi. The author used it exactly right. It means "general populace." Its connotation frequently refers to what we today call "the little people," or, as it relates to Hillary, one could say, the undistinguished, the unimportant. Anyone not named Hillary Rodham Clinto.

I'm sure not getting tired of reading about this. I hope more and more people write about this and also about the stupid commie wench congress woman from Georgia and about cities that are so liberal that their leaders publicly oppose our fight against terrorism.

Hillary is married to a RAPIST. Boooooo! For victory & freedom!!!

Oh, God! What a photo. Schumer is the best looking face in that crowd of the Beast and those other two. Ouch. My eyes hurt!

While we are at it, FReepers need to go after Ms. Henri Brooks in the TN state legislature. She is from Memphis and refuses to say the pledge of allegiance with the rest of the legislators at the opening of each meeting. She claims that as a black woman, she doesn't believe in it. This is several months old, but the public needs to keep up the pressure. Since I'm a newby here, I don't know if she was focused here or not. Her e-mail was (not sure if it still is, cause she got some nasty ones): www.legislature.state.tn.us/house/members/h92.htm

I do know - "The Many" - therefore the "the" in front is redundant. However, my writing manual says that the extra "the" is commonly used in English, so I did it that way.
I did check, though!
