Should Conservatives Support Rudeness? Why booing Senator Clinton is beneath us.
self

Posted on 10/23/2001 1:51:57 PM PDT by watsonfellow

First of all, to prevent the flamings, I should say that I am a strong conservative, and my number one issue is the life issue and so I am not at all a supporter of the Clintons etc.

That being said, I thought it the height of rudeness for these firemen and policemen to boo and yell at the Senator this weekend. It lacked dignity and class. I thought we conservatives were supposed to stand for such things, or perhaps this is just what we say, but do not practice.

I wonder what Burke et al would have said about this conservative embrace of very questionable manners.

The policemen and firemen should have just done nothing when she appeared on stage, no clapping, no booing, the silence would have expressed the same thing, but in a much more dignified way.

As one that was a friend of Watson Jr., rest assured he would not have booed. Also rest assured that he would not have agreed with you....

Tell me when the dumos, especially the Klintoons, have shown dignity and class? The guys were booing her as a symbol of their anger at terrorists who had murdered their friends and family members and they knew that she was a backer of terrorists. Were they supposed to remain silent or cheer like the other idiots at the concert? Get a life!

As a one time resident, albeit for less than 2 yrs, of the Ivy covered towers of academia, let me point out a fact of life.

REAL LIFE GETS MESSY. DEAL WITH IT OR IT DEALS YOU OUT.

These people have been too recently involved in the mud & blood of reality to suffer such people as her lightly. Now....get on with your studies.

In her overweening ambition Hillary Clinton willingly and eagerly sought high political office. In the grand American tradition, boos and catcalls come with the territory. She knew that. She deserves no sympathy.

I suggest you express your contempt your way, and allow the police and firefighters of NY to express their contempt their way. Sometimes, nothing short of public expression of outrage and contempt is appropriate to the situation.

The police and firefighters of NY did nothing wrong. As far as I'm concerned they certainly didn't embarrass me or the Republican Party.

If you're NOT a DU plant you oughta be. The left will go balistic because a group of true heros boo a snake in the grass grabbing camera time standing on the dead bodies of their fallen comrades and then turn around and slander a sitting conservative president openly with every sort of false inuendo and lies. Watson, Holmes would have tossed YOU into the street.

Last week, a black van carrying Hillary and driven by a Secret Service agent blasted through security at a Westchester County airport, injuring a policeman who tried to stop it. First he shouted at them to stop. Then he banged on the van. ``I didn't know if we had a terrorist,'' said vigilant officer Ernest Dymond, who was briefly hospitalized. ``Once I found out who he was, I was even more agitated that he, of all people, should have known.''

Hillary was on her way to a private airplane at the time.

They weren't necessarily Conservatives. Just fed-up Americans that have seen enough of their bullsh*t.

To TLBSHOW:

Yes you are so right, I am a communist, and my gentle criticism of the boo-ing of Sen. Clinton is all a terrible plot by the forces of the worldwide proletariat to take over FreeRepublic!

And to think, that of all people, you Sir, discovered my true identity and foiled this wicked plot. Rest easy tonight, for you have served your nation well!

You seem to be the type who will not learn. Over 250 responses against you, and still you defend your idiotic remarks.

Since you continue to label the actions of those righteous, courageous, somewhat smashed Americans as "rude" shows you to be a simpering, weak, detestable, arrogant fool, much like Hillary herself.

I'm sure I can think of a few more comments. I'll let you know. I'm starting to feel better.

I'm reading a new book on Nixon and it's funny how 30 years ago, Republicans were for "law and order" and "respect" and the left-wingers were booing and hissing and causing commotion. The more things change . . .

And you honestly don't think that is because the establishment/anti-establishment roles have totally reversed in the past 30 years?? In a world where "law and order" means socialism, right-wingers have no choice but to assume the outsider, counter-culture role once occupied by the left.

Oh, yeah! She was certainly a class act during President Bush's televised speech before the joint session. I mean the children at my son's kindergarten don't act as immature as she does when she's not the center of attention. I would have been the loudest "boo" of the bunch of I would have been there!

I am sure it was just the pantsuit that they were booing, certainly bi-partisan agreement there.

Well I will agree with you here. It is quite shocking that someone with her money would parade herself around in those silly pant suits.....I think this country would be alot better off if she focused more on her fashion policy than on foreign (or any other type of) policy.

Why are you so snide and sarcastic? It is unbecoming; it is beneath you. You must strive to rise above these traps of poor manners and needless negativism. Engaging in such uncouth practices makes you no better than . . well, DodgeDart for one.

I did notice. I'm just pointing that out. It was merely a coincidence that I'm at the part in the book on Nixon's presidency where the President rails at the people who boo him.

I just found it interesting. But, as someone who has booed politicians, I can't speak for everyone. It's just that in one sense, I agree with watsonfella -- I do think the media can play this against conservatives, big time.

The co-rapist wanted NY and she got NY. Unions, liberals and whiners got her in here. Unfortunately, they outnumber the NY'ers with brains and it was one of the few places she could have waltzed in for free. So now she has to stay for the rest of the dance, the phony, lying, putrid, disgusting piece of crap.

Eat your guts out, hillary, you pig. Most of NY hates you. Hates you. Nothing lukewarm about it.

Also, the biggest travesty from what I read, is that she apparently also made an appearance on the VHI/Vogues Fashion Award shows...Please, she is the height of unfashionability! Not that many politicians, or their wives, have much fasion sense I am afraid.........
