Making changes to the Self-Search function, and in particular, how the database is organized in relation to Self-Search.
Self-Searches should now be lightning quick and should span many months. The current index holds about 6 months of data (all I have available.)
JohnHuang2;twa 800
which would previously have made it show up in a search using this:
Not sure twa 800 is on that official list.... previously I have "indexed" things simply by replying to such entities as land grab or land_grab.
I did notice that on a RKBA post someone had replied to *bang_list and wondered if the asteric was a workaround....
I'm sure someone else has mentioned this already but I want to also, so I can give my specific reason why I hope you restore the feature --
I'm referring to the fact that when someone pings me, my pinged name does not appear on the thread now -- the way I find my pings is to hit Ctrl + F and type in "gretc" and that brings up, in sequence, all the posts addressed to me. Can it be restored, so I don't have to keep toggling to the post numbers I was pinged to, on the "Self Search" page results?
I did catch that superneato experimental Self Search feature -- thank you.
Another big whine: can you make the poster's name stand out (maybe just in bold would work) on the line at the end of each post? For folks with crummy eyesight, it would be a big boon.
So, are you like SuperMan or what? How do you get all this done and have time to eat and sleep and see the sunshine? =)
Wow! Thanks
That can be misleading - now I might think the people are finally reading my posts - when in fact, they're not.
Oh no! Say it isn't so!
Sorry, John, I don't lik this new feature at all.
It will be abused, trust me.
LOL!!! It's gonna be annoying too
Does this mean that everytime you put "ALL" in the to: address everyone on FREE REPUBLIC get's pinged?
Is this legal? thanks!
Going to wait to see how it is abused.
Have a good day!
