Relocate-America Announces 2005 'America's Top 100 Places to Live' List

HOWELL, Mich., April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Relocate-America, a web site assisting consumers in finding communities that best fit their family's needs, announces the release of "America's Top 100 Places to Live" for 2005. The list can be found at http://www.Relocate-America.com , which offers consumers an abundance of community information and links to top real estate professionals throughout the U.S. Cities making the list are considered for inclusion on the list by first being nominated by a current or past resident, or other individuals familiar with the community's benefits. They submit a brief description that is reviewed by Relocate-America's editorial team for compelling reasons on what makes the community a special place to live. Such descriptions often include references to a community's:

-- Great people and neighbors -- Serenity, peace and quiet -- Beauty of area -- Great Schools -- Safety for children -- Low crime rates -- Activities, such as museums, theaters and sports -- Economic health, with employment opportunities and affordable housing

"At HomeRoute we are pleased with the continued growth of Relocate- America's Annual 'America's Top 100 Places to Live' List. It gives communities a sense of pride and accomplishment when making the list," says Steve Nickerson, CEO & President of HomeRoute. "As a result we've helped connect 1000s of relocating consumers with their next hometown. It is fun & rewarding to be a part of that." The nominated towns then are put through an editorial process conducted by HomeRoute. Each nominated city is compared against each other in crime rates, employment statistics, housing & economic data for the past year as well as a non-scientific study of what makes the community a great place to live according to its nomination ballots and the total number of consumer inquiries for the area as well. After all is reviewed, the Top 100 cities are selected to make the list. From the Top 100, the Top 10 communities are ranked based on the total number of nominations. The remaining 90 are compiled alphabetically to equally recognize those top communities on the list. Each year thousands of communities across the U.S. are nominated and considered for the list.

Isn't it ironic that Liberal, KS is anything but?

I should have said seven grand in property taxes. Apartments are expensive but very nice in Hempstead.

I have lived in many of those cities listed and I left because they were not a "top" place to live. YUMA?? Give me a break, next year EL CENTRO will be on the list...LOL~, maybe it should read top 100 for illegal immigrants to live...LOL!

WORCESTER MASSACHUSETTS isn't listed this year!!!!!

They left off DC too - great schools, low taxes, caring and concerned helpful neighbors (ok,ok, so it is mostly helping themselves to someone else's tax $), city pride what more could you want.

Interesting. I would've believed that the complexes in Hempstead would be filled with illegal aliens and Section 8'ers. That site (and your comments) indicate otherwise.

So, do the crackhead rent single family houses with their Section 8 vouchers? Have they been chased out to Roosevelt or Uniondale?

I see Madisno WI is on the list, 'though there is talk locally of a "brain drain" with smart people feeling this socialist republic.

(sigh) I wish I were smart.

"Liberal" probably meant something quite different when that town was founded... something more like "libertarian" means today, rather than left-wing-Marxist-perversion-promoting-authoritarian as it means now.

What is the superliberal womens college in Yellow Springs? antitiem or something like that?? I saw a 15 passenger van loaded with women from that college getting gas onway to a kerry support or bush hate meeting during the election.

Never saw a bunch of bohemian/lesbian looking women in my life. Very strange looking women.

Auburn, AL is in the list.

Announcement: AUBURN IS A HORRIBLE PLACE TO LIVE. DON'T MOVE TO AUBURN. STAY AWAY.

While I'm thinking of it:
DON'T MOVE TO ANY PLACE IN ALABAMA OR ANY PART OF THE SOUTH. STAY OUT! YOU WON'T LIKE IT HERE THERE!

Yes, for more than a year. It may be a good thing as the previous limit was set by the judgement of the local trooper. Not quite the same as no limit.

Still on long straights where one can see beyond the limits of the range of radar and no one else is there to observe, there are only the laws of Physics to obey.

No places in Michgan listed.

Could it be because of the taxes and cost of business here? Thanks Granholm.

The halfway decent apartment complexes are inhabited by a lot of single people, small families and college students. There are a few small projects located in one area by MLK blvd, real drug dealing and crack den, almost all black. On the other side by the bus terminal is MS13 territory almost all hispanic. There are more illegals than crackheads. The druggies get more goodies than single moms though. I like Hempstead Police for keeping the riffraff off my block. Uniondale is very nice still. Roosevelt is a different story. I have a theory about a place having too many chinese food restaurants and churches.

Bear in mind that this list was produced by a real estate sales group.

People who have an interest in helping others move frequently.

Arverne and the rest of the eastern Rockaway peninsula was where the folks dispossessed by Robert Moses's construction of the belt and the BQE were "relocated," creating ghettos in the old summer bungalow communities. Its amazing how beachfront property (bordering the FIVE TOWNS) was allowed to deteriorate. That almost never happens.
