A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

~ Billie, Mama_Bear, dansangel, dutchess, Aquamarine ~

Welcome to a Christmas Contest

There will be SEVEN prizes!!
P.S. Six are spoken for.
1
2
3
A 2004 Republican National Committee Wall Calendar, Each Page Containing a Beautiful Photograph of Our President!
4
5
6
A 2004 Quilt Engangement Calendar!!

It's about time we give Christmas tips to the hostesses around here.   Each of the five regular hostesses -- Billie, Mama_bear, Dansangel, Dutchess, and Aquamarine -- will receive one of the gifts pictured above (unless they prefer of course not to trust an erratic judge like me with their snail mail address, hee hee!).

But hmm, they've all been so good this year.  Who should get which gift??  Play Santa the best and divvy up the gifts and you'll win a special prize! And yes hostesses *are* qualified to enter the contest win the surprise gift too. Of course, a holiday contest thread wouldn't be complete without silly rules, so here are mine:

THE RULES

You know how wonderful our hostesses are
And you know how hard they work.
So pony up your Christmas tip
And don't be a stingy jerk.

Above you see six pictured toys
And your only job is a piece of cake:
Write a poem of that explains
Which gift each hostess should take.

Explain in your poem -- which need not rhyme
Why which hostess should get which toy.
If your poem is the best you'll win for yourself
A surprise which will bring much joy.

To do well in this contest it will help to have read
Some of the threads of this year.
So you'll know, e.g., which hostess loves quilts
And whose hot for George W. in flight gear.

But if you don't know, that's no excuse
Not to offer a poem of praise.
It's Christmas time and well we all know
How much our hostesses deserve a raise.

As you can see from this poem my standards are low
Regarding both meter and rhyme,
But one key to winning is to be sure to enter
By 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

They've worked so hard all year long
And given you color, and graphics, and fun, and great joy.
Please help play Santa for our lovely sistahs
And you'll win a precious toy!

Now some of you may see six gifts
And think that I'm the sixth
But guess again and think real hard
About who else should be on your list!

There's another who appears more often
And delights you with his prose
He should get a gift too and which one
You'll also decide in your lovely poem.

Good luck and have fun and my final advice
Is go for it and be sincere
It's the thought that counts, not how "good" your poem
Just share with us your good cheer!

LOL, well, you know how we've always been saying we want a raise, Aqua. I decided to effect the raise myself!

Now, I realize I can't win, being the judge, but I'm off to write a poem. If only I can remember which hostess quilts. I know GailA does but *one* of you also quilts. I just truly myself, without my thinking cap today, don't know which! Is it you? Oh, and if you had to choose, which gift would you want?

"I can't write poetry."

Hint: it doesn't have to rhyme or have meter. You can just make it dramatic prose and call it a poem. I'm verrry flexible.

I really *love* your graphics, layout....the whole package (((((Freezie)))))) You did a tremendous job, as usual.

And I am *not* just saying that for "kiss-up points." LOL!

No fair!

Wow, dansangel, all this "unfair" stuff -- I seriously think people are intimiated by your entry! Which was entirely fair.

Yup, it's that time of year. So busy.

I do hope St.Louie1 drops by, though. He always seems to know what the hostesses want. ;)

Thanks, dansangel, but as Billie could tell ya, I stole just about everyone of those graphics -- especially that lovely Christmas plaid -- from Billie's graphics shop.

You have a good point, though. Dansangel's made an excellent pitch for the George W.

The Mayor, great tagline you're sporting today.

Don't remember that any of the hostesses quilt, know Spookbrat does...maybe Mama Bear? I crochet.
Any of the gifts would be fine with me, except I think John should get the Ann Coulter doll.

Here's my entry.....

Bush, he's our man!
His troops captured Saddam,
the tyrant who coveted spam!
The dems are now in the can!

Thanks, I was worried it would sound blasphemous....

If God could Vote, he would vote with the Right wing conspiracy

Mike Savage said something along those lines the other night and I had a brainstorm for the tagline..

Agreed. So, do I win? ;-)

Do I remind you of a *really* irritating two-year-old? LOL!

Thank you (((((((Rus)))))))

We're driving. It's about 10 hours, so we're leaving around 2 am to arrive for lunch! :-) That's if I am not so wired that I can't get a few hours of sleep this evening. In that case, we'll leave even earlier.

I'll be checking in from time to time, but Mom and Dad have a really slow dial-up, so it will be sparingly. :-(

Doesn't matter. As Billie herself will tell you, it was *you* that put it all together. Great job!

Well, it's not blasphemous because we kinda know you're joking. There's a point there, that at least as we see it many of the values we espouse on the right are good, Christian values. But I understand that you'd agree that in Heavan, there will be (misguided!) Democrats who believed in Him and were saved. It's all beyond politics.

I'm not one of those people that thinks all Dems are evil. I really don't. They are some of the nicest, kindest people: just naive. Like children, hoping this fallen world can be made into a dream-like, perfect world. It's a nice if childish dream. Children may often inherit the kingdom of Heavan.

So do I win?

LOL, well, it's a verrry busy day -- the last Friday before Christmas -- and my contest takes a lot of labor to enter and it's 10:36 a.m. and you are, so far, the only entry. Plus the other entrants have been warned what to give you, at least.

I would say you're in a very good position, 'specially since I have 2 dolls in your favored category.
