[history]
The Ford auto plant in Hazelwood started this week to restrict where its 2,500 workers can smoke on the job, ending the decades-long practice of allowing workers to light up almost anywhere.
The change was prompted by pressure from state officials and anti-smoking groups, who claimed the Ford policy violated Missouri's Clean Indoor Air law.

To be perfectly honest with you i personally find the smell ...no, stench ....of smoke abhorrent! Now, the choice to smoke or not is up to the individual, but they cannot just go and light up anywhere. The 'no smoking in public places' regulation is one that i can live with ...perfectly.
p.s: There are few things more vomit-inducing than a co-worker coming to ask a question, and immediately flooding your olfactory senses with the deep dank stench of what i refer to as the 'stale cigarette smoke' smell. That is the smell residue left from a cigarette a person smoked sometime before ....or even worse the person smokes so much that it almost seems as if every movement they make releases more of the stench (like when even there clothes start to smell of 'stale smoke).
Disgusting!

Na, they still stink....
And at 3.75 a pack / 1 pack per day the money is piling up instead of going up in SMOKE!!!
If you want to smoke, thats fine with me, just don't do it where I have to smell it..

Hey,you get all my respect. My Mom finally kicked that garbage over 25 years ago and I believe that is why she is still alive today.
How in the heck pro- smoking ever get to be a CONSERVATIVE cause is beyond me.Shall we also include crack cocaine smoking as one of our cherished"rights" also?
I know some people on this board have a good point in that it is not the role of GOVERNMENT to try to make saints of us.Fine,I am with them on that.WE should make sensible choices about our health.Something called"free will".
But to do as some so called conservatives do and actually defiantly light one up to"show the liberals"is childish and self destructive.

"Public places" as in beaches, parks, parking lots, etc? Or in "Public places" such as privately owned bars, restaraunts, garages, etc?

"working there is my life" "i want to retire there" bull chips...she is hoping to get a check so big lumas fargo has to pick it up and take it to the bank for her and then she can be on oprah, leno and letterman and write a book and star in a movie.
it would really be a shame if she broke a heel off her shoe and fell in front of a speeding metro bus now wouldn't it??

cavtrooper21. You keep it up. The hard parts over. Its been 8 months and counting for me. Amazing how sensitive your nose gets once you kick the habit. Its hard to believe you smelled so bad, isn`t it. Don`t worry about being flamed here, you know how cranky people can get if you take away their smokes. We`ve been there , done that.
To: cavtrooper21; Peace will be here soon
I won't flame anyone for quitting smoking. Congrats to both of you. I do have a problem telling me where I can and can't smoke especially when it affects business owners. I have no problem NOT smoking in a restaurant in which I would be offending other people. I DO have a problem when the government says I can't smoke in a BAR if they sell food. I don't go to a restaurant to drink and shoot pool, if you are hungry go to a RESTAURANT not to my bar!

Judd, who doesn't live far from the Fenton auto plant, also hopes she can return to work. "Working there is my life," she said. "I want to retire there." Yeah right, I am sure they or any other buisness in town will be eager to (re)hire her.
