There had also been an eye-opening moment on the streets of Cleveland during the Republican National Convention, when [Johnson and I had] been walking behind a cigarette-wielding Ohioan. As the smokers exhaust wafted in our faces, I remarked offhand thatwith the advent of e-cigarettesI thought there was a good libertarian case for banning regular cigarettes. I do too, replied the health-obsessed triathlete, recounting his support for anti-smoking efforts in New Mexico.

Gary Johnson’s libertarianism is not pure! Teddy should be their nominee!
It makes one wonder if they have ever looked up the definition of “libertarian”.
Johnson is the right kind of Libertarian to be running in this election.
Pretty funny ... the guy that supports the legalization of marijuana wants to ban regular cigarettes!!!
Someone tell this Libertarian that libertarians aren’t in to banning stuff for other people.
Not what I would have expected from a libertarian.
Really showing off his Libertarian streak with this. Likely just wants to tax people 35 bucks a pack like they are on a course to in Australia. Not gonna go over too well with his core constituency - pot smokers.
But you can have them for a “price”. I’ve got a friend. He works for the federal goverment and has access to the federal cigarette storage warehouse. Word is, it’s where Obama gets his......
“What is a Leppo?”
That don’t sound too libertarian. Sounds more Bloomberg to me. What party does Bloomie represent? This was never clear to me.
Gary Johnson also wants a carbon tax and his running mate William Weld wants tighter gun control. Weld, in the past, has been an advocate of “affirmative action.” These sound like true friends of liberty.
Gary Johnson the Ringer-
Typical pothead.
Lol. More Hillary supporters will flock to Johnson. This libertarian NOT
I maintain that for most politicians, the choice of a party is not about ideology--it's about which party, given their locale and connections, is the best career choice. For most (not all), the ideology comes later.
Here we have a man who is clearly not a libertarian using the Libertarian Party as his vehicle.
That’s real libertarian of him.
The good news is that this numb-nutz, in a general election, would draw votes for Hillary and not Trump. Disaffected Hillary voters, and there are legions who realize what a liar she is, are desperate to vote for someone else, but will not vote for Trump. Johnson is that outlet. Trump’s base is libertarian enough to not be pried away by someone with no chance of winning.
Every party is being destroyed this year.
Should read ‘draw voters FROM Hillary.’
