WASHINGTON
America's most interesting development since November is the Republican Party becoming more interesting. Consider the congressman from Grand Rapids, Mich., who occupies the seat once held by Gerald Ford, the embodiment of vanilla Republicanism.
Here's a little history on how he's been treated by the Speaker of the House.
What is the perspective from Michigan?
Ahmanutjob’s Press Secretary ? No.
Yea but no. He is good on some stuff, but way too in the Ron Paul camp on national defense. He actually criticized McCain for being too hard on Iran and voted against sanctions for Iran. Being to the left of McCain on anything is not a face we want out front.
Stick him in some finance committee or something.
He also blew it on North Korea as well.

He also voted “present” on defunding Planned Parenthood back in 2011. What is unfortunate is that the ACU ratings don’t often show how liberal/statist (or bizarre) some members like Amash are (since they rate him an 88% overall, which ignores all this other stuff). The Paulites especially can really do nutty things... how exactly does one rate “condemning” McCain for an attack on the Iranian dictator ? That alone ought to earn a one-way ticket out of Congress. I expect that sort of unhinged stuff from the peanut gallery of the Stalinist Dem wing, the Cynthia McKinney types, not from the GOP.
Amash Bump.
Very impressive fellow. I wish there were more House members like him and fewer ones like Boehner and Cantor.
He’s a clown.
No one has announced for Levin’s seat yet which surprises me. If he were to be the nominee, kiss the seat goodbye. Paulestian types are losers at the polls. But I hope he runs and loses the primary.
How ‘bout fewer members like Boehner, Cantor AND Amash ?
I’d love to put my congressman (Tim Walberg) in the senate but he’s just not a tough campaigner or terribly outspoken guy. Just one of those quiet toilers who doesn’t look for TV cameras.
If George “The Squish” Will is writing positive things about him, I don’t like him.
There is a reason that libertarians can't get elected to anything if they come out of the closet and admit it.
At this point I would take just about anyone to the right of Saul Anuzis. Amash wouldn’t be my first choice but if he won the nomination I would vote for him.
ACU gave Mitch McConnell a 100 score last term. That should tell you everything you need to know.
RINOism to Libertarianism: Out of the frying pan and into the fire.
You could vote for him 10x and he will still lose. I would be forced to vote for him if he gets the nomination, but he would lose bigtime.
