Ron Paul Backer Aims to Snag Travelers (full page US today Ad)
US News World Report ^ | 11/20/07 | Liz Halloran

Posted on 11/21/2007 9:51:02 AM PST by traviskicks

Larry Lepard, a venture capitalist and Ron Paul supporter from Massachusetts, has shelled out about $85,000 of his own money to throw what he told U.S. News is a "small hard rock at a good target": a full-page ad supporting Paul that will run in tomorrow's edition of USA Today—the nation's largest circulation daily newspaper—on the busiest travel day of the year.

He noted that he bought a right-hand position in the newspaper's front section.

"I'm trying to get maximum bang for the buck," said Lepard, 50, a Republican who says his strong opposition to the Iraq war drove him to take out the ad. His firm, Equity Management Association, invests in emerging markets, he said, adding, "I'm good at spotting early trends." The ad, presented as an open letter from the country's Founding Fathers, was designed with the help of supporters on www.RonPaulForums.com, where Paul campaign activists hold their virtual gatherings.

"We think the message is beautiful and pure," said Lepard, who first met Paul nearly two decades ago at an economic conference in New York. "He's not the odds-on favorite, but people have come from relative obscurity before and done it."

I see why others were cheering Huckabee on a few days ago. It’s a sort of Mutually Assured Destruction thing.

* Together we CAN change the world! *

Well, at least that part is believable.

ElRon’s dogmatic isolationism might change the world, all right. The United States very well might become a smoking nuclear crater, with what’s left ruled by Russia, China and Iran.

Oh boy. Three cheers for Elron.

Have you heard anything about a Dec 16th “Tea Party” in Strasbourg (at the European Parliament) being planned to protest excessive taxation and the loss of sovereignty under the EU?

Because of Huck’s rise, Romney seems to be totally frustrated and is getting desperate to stop the hemoraging. He just tacked back to the left by calling for 100 percent mandated insurance. I am glad that this is forcing him to show his true colors and expose the lie that he is for limited government.

Paulistinian logic is very similar to paleo logic.

‘I can’t find the point (in the ad) about Paul saying that 9/11 was our fault.

Why is that?’

(chuckle)

I just don’t see it as being a dominant strategy (in the game theory sense). It’s far too early for the Paul supporters to assume this will help their candidate.

Agree with you 1RB, and I don’t think Paul’s guys are eyeing it as much as Rudy, Thompson, Mitt and McCains guys are looking at this.

As Huck goes up, someone has to come down. In doing so, voters are going to split their candidates. I noticed on some earlier post that some Thompson guys are throwing in the towel and picking Mitt. By no means do I think they are Freepers, it was just the articles being posted.

Not good to be throwing in the towel before one vote has been cast so early in the game.

Could you tell me why you are against military action against Islamofacists? That’s a sincere question.

Paul has spit on the vets of Korea, the vets of Vietnam, and the vets of Iraq by telling them their sacrifice was meaningless and unconstitutional.

As a Paul supporter, is that your position as well?

“dogmatic isolationism”

What’s that, any policy that doesn’t commit US troops to endless warfare in the Middle East?

Nice smear, but Ron Paul is actually suggesting that the US act to protect US interests. What a radical concept!

And no, it doesn’t mean sitting back if directly attacked.

>> What’s that, any policy that doesn’t commit US troops to endless warfare in the Middle East?

No, “dogmatic isolationism” is ElRon’s policy of sticking his head up his arse and waiting for the incoming missiles.

>> Nice smear

Thanks for the kind words! But it’s not a smear, it’s the truth. And, anyway, ElRon provides the material, I just point it out.

>> it doesn’t mean sitting back if directly attacked.

No, I’m sure that WHEN we’re attacked (because we CERTAINLY WILL BE with ElRon as POTUS), the little popcorn fart will get all indignant and immediately send some buccaneer ships armed with marques of reprisal off towards the horizon. The only (!) problem with that is, in this day and age waiting until we’re attacked will be TOO LATE.

And how can you be attacked, when W is doing such an effective job of sealing the southern border?
