Tonight at my university Catholic Center, I presided over a Prayer Service for the Men and Women of our Military and their families.
Our opening hymn was "How Great Thou Art," followed by an opening prayer, Ecclesiastes 3:1-12, a Sung version of Psalm 23, and Romans 14:7-13, 18-19, 22. After the readings, a soldier's recollection of Fr. Emil J. Kapaun, a Korean War Martyr. Then sang "How Can I keep From Singing," then lifted up Intercessions, followed by a silent reflection. Then sang "Jesus, Give Us Strength," read Psalm 34.
We then read the names of all the fallen soldiers both US and UK. We also read the names of the Missing and of Prisoners of War. For each name we lit a candle upon the altar. One of the candles wouldn't light, I tried and tried again, and it wouldn't light, so I left one candle out of over 80, unlit. At the end of the prayer service, I learned, that during the Prayer Service, the rescue of PFC Lynch was announced and she was safe. Answered Prayers, Praise the LORD. Very powerful, I was crying at the end.
We closed with a Soldier's Prayer and then the Battle Hymn of the Republic.
I was in tears at the end, but it was so powerful and prayers were answered.

Wow! Thank you, Heavenly Father, for an answer to the prayer of many about this young woman.

Thank you for posting this. I wonder if there is a way to get your story to the young woman's family. I have seen her father on TV a few times.

Good idea -- Send it to Hannity. He will forward it since he is Catholic!

The winter will lose its cold,
as the snow will be without whiteness,
The night without darkness,
the heavens without stars,
the day without light,
The flower will lose its beauty,
all fountains their water,
the sea its fish,
the tree its birds,
the forest its beasts,
the earth its harvest -
All these things will pass before
anyone breaks the bonds of our love,
And before I cease caring for you in my heart.
May your days be happy in number as flakes of snow,
May your nights be peaceful,
and may you be without troubles.
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND OUR TROOPS
