A South African bishop has defended his writings at a pornographic homosexual Internet chat room in which he expressed "hope" the pope would die, while a Dallas priest apologized to his congregation Sunday for stating his interest in Hispanic men at the same site.

"What is so relevant here, and so shocking, is the fact that within the priesthood there are actually individuals who would defend this kind of activity and excuse it as a simple one-time failing," Mr. Brady said. Zackly.
And it doesn't appear to be a "one-time failing" - this stuff has been and is ongoing. If my priest were involved in this sort of disgusting behavior, I'd rather see him out of the priesthood even if I had to drive 60 miles to Mass. I
The Cawcutt scandal is unbelievable. There is not one good reason why he has not been defrocked.
Canon 326
A private association of Christ's faithful is extinguished in accordance with the norms of the statutes. It can also be suppressed by the competent authority if its activity gives rise to grave harm to ecclesiastical teaching or discipline, or is a scandal to the faithful.

"...the apology was so vague that many members of the east Dallas congregation said they didn't know what he was talking about..."
That seems to be the style in dealing with these things. Make the words so general that it could refer to anything at all, a technique probably learned from the master himself, Bill Clinton.
But why is this guy even around to "apologize"? Why is Bishop Galante letting him stay? He's certainly not morally fit to lead a Catholic parish. Send him off to a very severe monastic order with no Internet connection and let him do a few years penance before even considering putting him back in circulation. Or just get rid of him right now.

What can ya say? The South African guy's explanation is absurd. The actions of Bishop Cawcutt are a little bizarre. An excerpt from an article written over a year ago when the website was first discovered by RCF.
After the site was made public, Bishop Cawcutt insisted that he had participated only in order to render pastoral service to those on the site and that he always defended the discipline of celibacy. However, on the web he boasted of the sexual attraction he felt towards a curial official in Rome and looked forward to administering Confirmation, where he hoped to see attractive boys.
The Bishop needs some serious help. Heres a link to the complete article.

I feel for the parishoners at St. Pius X. Someone I know -- a nice lady who works at my favorite Catholic bookstore in Casa View (a part of east Dallas), who went there for years -- recently told me about the horrorshow that's been in progress over there. She and her family have since fled to another parish.
I think it's sad.
The laity and faithful priests must act. We must expose the sodomites, drag their filthy deeds before the press, purge the seminaries, and make proper catechesis a priority among the laity so that we don't get fooled again. At the same time we must be careful to keep our own houses in order, by frequent Communion, devotion to the Rosary, and regular Eucharistic Adoration. (Not that I have any room to talk; I'm the guilitiest of all when it comes to the sin of impiety.)
I'm against lay democracy -- but if we don't unmask the sodomites' fifth column within the clergy, who will?

Are you a canon lawyer or something? How'd you do that? 8-)

Bishop Cawcutt advocates active promiscuous homosexuality, the use of pornography, and he uses profanity in talking about conservative Catholics. He is like Bishop Weakland-cubed. He should be dismissed immediately. But, alas, like so many of the other active homosexual enablers and teenage boy molester shufflers, HE's STILL THERE!!!! Where is the leadership of this Church??????????????

"What is so relevant here, and so shocking, is the fact that within the priesthood there are actually individuals who would defend this kind of activity and excuse it as a simple one-time failing," Mr. Brady said. This is unbelievable that anyone would defend a porn site or homesexuality!
(Not quite raging.)

Why doesn't some bishop or cardinal take down the site. Is Bishop Wilton Gregory reading this right now? This is a suggestion. Take down that site!

Why doesn't some bishop or cardinal take down the site. Are any of the bishops hackers? (Ah, the power of packeting!)
To: Salvation
If anyone asks, I don't know what "packeting" means-I just heard it somewhere.

Reggie Cawcutt is a disgusting slob. I posted all about St. Sebastian's Angels two years ago on FR, outing this Cawcutt and the other slime who exchanged filthy homo pictures and "chat" with him. The response? I was thoroughly reamed by all the Catholics here, who called me a liar, apostate, etc. They also said that the Roman Catholic Faithful organization founded by Steve Brady was bogus, contentious, and disrespectful to priests. (I wish I had saved those threads).
Now I can say: "I told you so!"

All the Catholics here? I suspect it was mostly one particular Catholic. And I can guess who. :-)
