The article highlights the Leftist ruthless repression of the Church during the French revolution. A worthy position. The problem with this Pope is that he sees Islam as an equal to be given respect . Islam rountinely does evil in the name of God and must therefore be defeated, not appeased.

For example, in 1794, French Revolutionaries locked 600 people in the Church of Notre-Dame du Petit-Luc, and then proceeded to massacre them over 2 days.

In 1993, on the 200th anniversary of the Vendee Catholic uprising, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn went to the site, and gave a speech which compared the French Revolutionaries to their 20th century Marxist offspring and Lenin, and condemned them all as barbaric and anti-civilization

I got the distinct sense that Francis changed toward the end of his papacy. He became less radical, and more willing to listen to the devout, particularly those who were praying constantly for the repose of his soul. The approach of death tends to focus the mind on what really matters, after all.

Also, by your logic, Judaism would be superior because it’s still here. It’s been around over twice as long as Catholicism.

None of which justifies the Catholic leadership abdicating its role in defending the faith for decades.

Many have tried to argue away the Catholic Church. There’s nothing that you can write or link to, or, if we were face to face, say that will cause me to leave the Catholic Church. It’s the Church Christ founded. This is where I stand.

The nuns ordeal was made into an opera, where the final scene shows the nuns singing “Salve Maria” as they walked to their death, with the haunting sound of the guillotine punctuating each beheading:
