About a dozen years ago, having wandered for decades, I returned to the Catholic Church into which I was, as an infant, baptized in 1959. Therein lies my proprietary interest.
I’ve long found Fox News host Sean Hannity to be a voice of common sense, when most in the political media sphere reliably tote woke Democrats’ water.
But I wholeheartedly disagree with lifelong Catholic Sean’s April decision to leave our Church (while remaining Christian). He cited current officials hiding wrongdoings and their pursuit of popularity over traditional doctrine as causal factors.
“I left the Catholic Church in large part due to the institutionalized corruption, and it was at the parish level, to the bishop level, cardinals, all the way to Rome,” he explained.
The host added: “Others at the Vatican have totally lost the true meaning of the Bible and its teachings.”
Examples include Pope Leo XIV’s calling Islam a “religion of peace” (it counsels adherents to slaughter “infidels” and, reportedly, has in recent years, murdered hundreds of Nigerian priests), tacit acceptance of homosexual unions, endorsement of pro-abortion politicians, and the Vatican’s recently reported installation on its property of a Muslim prayer room open only to Muslim researchers and scholars. It reportedly includes prayer mats facing Mecca.

Nahhhh, he's still insufferable.
He repeats himself more than a black dude being arrested on body cam. Haven’t listened to him in forever.
Unfortunately, the Catholic Church left him, and many others.
He has a civil divorce and remarriage. That is a common antecedent to the sudden realization to the corruption.
Hannity used to trot out his Catholic education. If he had a decent one, he would have been taught about the Donatist heresy, where the efficacy of the Sacraments relies on the holiness of the cleric.
There has been corruption and bad actors in the Church since Judas. Our response is to cling to the true doctrine, and pray for ourselves and all sinners.
” 1 Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to his disciples, 2 Saying: The scribes and the Pharisees have sitten on the chair of Moses. 3 All things therefore whatsoever they shall say to you, observe and do: but according to their works do ye not; for they say, and do not.” (Matthew 23:1-3)
It’s not just the Catholic Church, but all denominations have gone liberal.................
Exactly. They left me decades ago. Little 7-year-0ld me was going to hell for not loving my abusive mother?
Not sure how I could care less one way or the other but if I could I would.
The Church has NOT changed anything.
The Apostles’ Creed says it all. The prayer tells you everything you have to believe to be Catholic.
It’s some over zealous, conceited, pompous popes you want to avoid at all cost
Yes.
...couldn’t agree more.
None of my business.
I haven’t left the Catholic church, but it’s well on its way to leaving me.

RE: Exactly. They left me decades ago. Little 7-year-0ld me was going to hell for not loving my abusive mother?
I’m on your side. Abusive mother, also. And falsely accused of a felony in 1967 for which I was exonerated—but I still hold a grudge against everyone. And for not standing up for me when bullied as a kid. And much more later.
To me, asking the “forgiveness” “love thy neighbor” pray to help your enemy, find your worst enemy and pray for them....is like those self-farm young people who slash their arms or puncture their skin or burn themselves. Self harm by the religions.
Not just Catholics but all the organized religions are deeply flawed. I believe in God and I love God. But not the evil human race.
Psalm 14:2-3 (NIV): “The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.”
Psalm 53:2-3 (KJV): “God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God. Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
Genesis 6:5-7
When the Lord saw how great the wickedness of human beings was on earth, and how every desire that their heart conceived was always nothing but evil, 6 the Lord regretted making human beings on the earth, and his heart was grieved.
7 So the Lord said: I will wipe out from the earth the human beings I have created...
Wow, good luck with that, Hannity.
Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus
I now have gotten to like him after a hiatus. I like his radio show format with the great Lynda McLaughlin who argues against forgiveness of evil people and for revenge as true justice. Great stuff.
Question: Are most Catholics who do not agree with the leftist, woke political stances and statements of Pope Leo XIV pretending, genuinely bowing down to the successor of the past Popes since Peter, or what?
Sort of like accepting the two Bushes and Mitt Romney but really wanting Trump to come on the scene someday later on. Or like others who refused to join in on anything between Reagan and Trump.
I know Catholics genuinely and honestly loved Saint John Paul 2nd. No strain or compromise for them to love him.
Arthur C. Clarke: “Faith is believing what you know not to be true. (adapted from Mark Twain).
>If he had a decent one, he would have been taught about the Donatist heresy, where the efficacy of the Sacraments relies on the holiness of the cleric.
That seems like a really basic one, not that you need special catechesis to see it. Let’s see, first leader of the church, Peter, figures out Jesus is the Christ, nonetheless denies even *knowing* Christ three times at the worst possible time, nonetheless the Spirit returns to him and away we go.
Anyone who is expecting the human element of (any denomination) leadership to be perfect should go read that section of the Gospels again.
RE: Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus.
I believe his new mantra will be sola scriptura.
“Sola scriptura (Latin for “Scripture alone”) is the foundational Protestant doctrine that the Bible is the only infallible, authoritative source for Christian faith and practice. It asserts that all truth necessary for salvation is found within Scripture, and that no church leader or tradition can override its teachings.”
—Wikipedia.
“genuinely bowing down”
No Catholics or any other denomination bow down to anyone but Christ. There are streams of just about every denomination; go watch a mass sometime.
Bowing for the name of Jesus; and in the middle of the litany you’ll hear the current names of the Pope and the local bishop are named and nobody bobs a head.
It’s an office; you made an apt analogy to presidents. There are good people in that job sometimes and awful ones. Not a single Lutheran, Baptist, or Catholic was baptized in the name of Jorge Bergoglio or Billy Graham (etc.) but in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
According to some schools of thought the pope and church leaders who teach heretical ideas have separated themselves from holy mother church by their thoughts and actions. Their own actions have made them anathema.
