Pope Leo XIV has sent 80 electric generators and thousands of medical supplies to Ukraine to help civilians cope with freezing winter temperatures and constant attacks, the Vatican announced on Feb. 9.
The aid was arranged in response to appeals from bishops who warned of mounting difficulties caused by Russia’s attacks on energy infrastructure and subzero temperatures across the country.
Three trucks carrying the generators and medical supplies departed from the Basilica of Saint Sophia in Rome and have already arrived in Fastiv and Kyiv, areas heavily affected by recent strikes.
Alongside the generators, thousands of medical supplies were delivered, including antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, supplements, and melatonin, which Vatican officials said is in high demand as Ukrainians struggle with stress and sleep deprivation amid ongoing attacks.
The Vatican added that preparations are underway to send another shipment of medicine and food, with distribution coordinated through parish networks across Ukraine.
Since assuming the papacy last year, Pope Leo has called for "a just and lasting peace" in Ukraine and has offered to host peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow at the Vatican.
Zelensky has expressed support for such an initiative, while Russian officials have thus far rejected the proposal.
Before becoming pope, Leo XIV denounced Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine while serving as Bishop of Chiclayo in Peru.

The pope has also opened the door for Putin & Russian officials to use Vatican grounds to engage diplomatically with Ukraine.
Pope Leo is a progressive ass.
No drones?
Nigeria?
pope evil
Leo needs to tear down his walls.
As an example for the others.
I thought the Bible and especially Catholic history are full of people wielding sword? One thing saying we need to bring peace, but saying something that is just theologically and historically inaccurate is different.
And yes, Pope is infallible but only when speaking ex cathreda. What he says in interviews doesn’t count.
Holy moly. 80 generators, at $400 a piece is $32,000,. Vatican tours alone take in 30000 visitors a day at 20 euros ($1.18 per euro) which is $708,000 a day.
Surely seems so.
"Fr Giacomo Cardinali, Vice Prefect, said in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica that Muslim academics had requested a small area in which to pray, and the library had agreed. 'Some Muslim scholars have asked us for a room with a carpet for praying and we have given it to them,' he said."It's a mosque. A peater room for Islamic prayers. It's a mosque in the Vatican Library, because "ecumenicism."Source: Vatican Library grants Muslim scholars a prayer room The Catholic Herald, 12 October 2026
"The Vatican Apostolic Library does indeed allow Muslims a room for prayer. But, importantly, it does not appear to be a generally accessible Islamic prayer space but rather one designated for the 'Muslim scholars' that may be on site at the time. Further, it was only opened at the request of scholars themselves."
"...the vice prefect of the Vatican Apostolic Library describes the space as nothing more than 'a room with a carpet'." Source: Fact check: Did the Vatican Library open a prayer room for Muslims? The Catholic Telegraph, 16 April 2026.
"Pope Leo XIV has in his ministry so far placed an emphasis on interfaith dialogue. In May, Pope Leo hosted inter-religious delegations at the Holy See to boost ecumenism, saying that Christians should unite 'in a spirit of human fraternity.' Pope Leo's language mirrors that of his predecessor, Pope Francis, who 'promoted both the ecumenical path and inter-religious dialogue,' the current Pope said."

Reading the comments on "Faith Image's Post" is most amusing and suggests "a room with a carpet" in which Islamic prayers are said is a mosque, when all is said and done.

"The term usually refers to a covered building, but can be any place where Islamic prayers are performed; such as an outdoor courtyard.'

"Allah's Messenger (blah-blah) said, 'The Hour will not be established until the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you as a just ruler, he will break the cross, kill the pigs, and abolish the Jizya tax'."Got it? Break the cross. And their "son of Mary" is named Issa who did NOT die on the cross, and so not Jesus.Source: Chapter: The breaking of the cross and the killing of the pigs Sunnah.com.
Leo the Ecumenical shows himself a relativist, at best. And Cardinali, Vice Prefect, doesn't know the basic meaning of "mosque."
There's a humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. Even civilians and children are suffering.
What's wrong with the Pope helping them?
Some of the anti-Catholics on FR whine about the Pope being "rich." Then when he sends medical aid, they complain about that.
“Designated Muslim Prayer Room in Apostolic Library.” Sounds like waving the white surrender flag. What’s on the pope’s alleged mind? Does he have one?
This article is not about any prayer room for Muslims. It’s about humanitarian aid for Ukrainians. A good thing.
Veto, I get the knee-jerk reaction—on paper, ‘Muslim Prayer Room in the Vatican’ sounds like a plot point from a bad Dan Brown novel. But if we look at what’s actually on the Pope’s (very much functioning) mind, it’s less ‘surrender’ and more radical hospitality
The “Muslim Prayer Room” isn’t a public mosque or a change in Church dogma. In late 2025, the Vatican Apostolic Library (one of the world’s most important research centers) designated a small, carpeted room for visiting scholars.
It wasn’t a papal decree to “rebrand” the Vatican; it was a response to Muslim academics who spend all day researching ancient manuscripts (including some of the world’s oldest Qurans) and needed a quiet corner for their daily prayers so they wouldn’t have to leave the library and lose hours of research time.
The Apostolic Library isn’t a parish church; it’s a world-class research hub. If we want the world’s best scholars to study our history and engage with our culture, we have to treat them like welcome guests, not intruders.
A scholar praying on a rug in a Vatican Library closet does not create a Waqf. As many exorcists or theologians might say: “The Presence of the Eucharist in the heart of the Vatican is far more powerful than a prayer rug in the library.”
By providing the room, the Vatican says: ‘You are a guest in our house, and we are so confident in our Faith that your presence doesn’t threaten us.’ Surrender is when you’re forced to do something. Hospitality is when you choose to do something to show you’re the one in charge.
He didn’t send a thing...the church supporters did...
Go away Troll!
Pope Leo os a Marxist jersey, not a man of God.
He ignores the murderous acts of the terrorist regime of Iran and ignores the 40,000+ deaths of citizens who were unarmed and rightfully protesting against the regime.
I was in Turkey years ago before Islamist Erdogan was elected. Went to a couple of mosques. In spite of being an American woman without a veil, the Muslim men praying at the wall were very nice to me. Actually my fave vacation and I’ve been all over the world.
I’ve been to the Vatican too. Not a happy place though the art is spectacular. I was born and raised Catholic. Catholic grade, high schools and college. That church is on a constant, perhaps imperceptible slide to the left. New pope can do whatever he wants. I promise not to read or comment on any more Catholic threads.
Where did he steal the money from?
Pope Bobby has built a room in the Vatican Library for the muzzies to pray. Next, he’ll be bringing in footbaths for them.
