Today, Leo XIV received a delegation from the ecumenical 'World Council of Churches', reports Oikoumene.org.
The delegation included the German lay bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm, the Armenian archbishop Vicken Aykazian, the Baptist preacher Merlyn Hyde Riley, and the Protestant preacher Jerry Pillay.
According to Pillay, Leo XIV stressed "the need for visible Christian unity, recognising the challenges this presents even within the Roman Catholic Church due to the existence of different and diverse views".
Pillay said that Leo XIV affirmed that, "while our task is not to build a Christendom yet Christians must work together in unity to heal and restore the world".
After the audience, German Bedford-Strohm told Kna.de that Leo XIV had "wholeheartedly agreed upon the necessity to move us towards visible unity".
They also agreed that the Christian faith should not be used for political purposes: "Whether it is about aggressive invasion, chasing migrants or oppressing whole groups of people, the churches must speak out."

Has he never heard of the Great Commission?
Pope Leo is doing his best to tear down what little Christendom still remains. I guess his goal is the One World Religion.
He’s making Frank look like a piker.
Where did they get this guy? At an ashram somewhere?
Hindus have many gods and goddesses, people choose the one they want to follow. I’ve met a few Hindus, better and more religious people than lots if Christians.
So New Pope wouldn’t mind if we followed Shiva. ?
Ainβt that the truth!
It’s also not your job to lose it. What an evil POS.
Well, you’re doing a great job then π π π π
I’m sure he has. Talk about your cafeteria catholic!
Downhill further every year. If you were time-traveled in from 1960 you would be horrified. Come to think of it...
LOL, went from one atheist pope to another.
Rule #1 for Catholics. If it’s in Scripture, ignore it. If it’s not in Scripture, adhere to it and claim validity because its been like that since like 654 or some nonsense.
They also agreed that the Christian faith should not be used for political purposes: “Whether it is about aggressive invasion, chasing migrants or oppressing whole groups of people, the churches must speak out.”
Is the Pope Catholic ?
Really? The "World Council of Churches" and their affiliates not political?
Leo XIV: “Not Our Task to Build a Christendom”. Padre, what is your task then?
Really?? Just what IS your task?? Unbelievable!
