There’s a conversation that’s bubbling just under the surface of pop culture right now that a lot of people are thinking about but very few are willing to say out loud.
It centers around a term that used to exist only in uber-rich gossip circles, but now it’s spilling into the mainstream, and for good reason. We’re talking about “yacht girls.”
For readers who are not obsessed with influencer lore, the phrase refers to hot young women, mostly professional models or social media influencers, who get invited to layabout on luxury yachts owned by extremely wealthy men. Sometimes the arrangement is purely social… wink, wink. Sometimes it is promotional. And sometimes, according to many “yacht girls” who’ve spoken publicly about it, the expectations are far less innocent.

The world’s oldest profession, and it persists because the market for it does.
Nothing new here.
If you are a hot young woman and you don’t know what wealthy men with yachts really want then you’re just plain dumb.
The article shows a picture of Meghan Markle with Jeffrey Epstein’s girlfriend on a yacht. Claims Meghan was a yacht girl.
And guess what?
Not everyone who accepted “advances” from Harvey Weinstein was clueless about the game being played.
Sort of like these yacht girls.
There is some validity to that. For some of them, they aren’t “exploited”until they have made it, then they go after men with whom they were willing participants.
(Note that women under the legal age of consent ARE exploited victims even if they were willing participants.)
But I look at someone like Scarlett Johannson (who I find very attractive) who took plenty of parts in which she leveraged her body for all it was worth, and now decries young actresses who leverage their bodies in exactly the same way on their journey upwards in the field.
This stuff is starting to seem like String Theory to me. Could it be deeper? More complicated? Are we dealing with 15 different dimensions of human behavior? Do we know anything specific about anything? Is it all made up?
I think that there is “something there” but I also think the waters have been muddied beyond hope. On purpose.
Generally, I stop reading anything as soon as I get near the word “influencer.”
That said: “Are we dealing with 15 different dimensions of human behavior?”
I believe the behavior “drooling” can be taken off the list of mysterious dimensions.
What father raises his daughter to layabout on luxury yachts owned by extremely wealthy men?
I used to work with a young woman that did this. She was from a wealthy family. She didn’t ‘need’ the money; she was doing it for connections and to position herself in upper echelon circles even above the reach of her family. Most people brushed it off as ‘she’s just young, and doesn’t know what she’s doing’. She knew exactly what she was doing, and looking back, it did catapult her into a prime position in terms of her dream job and she met her dream husband (a younger man). Think what you want, but there’s a method to their madness.
And if you think there are not men and women who will pimp out their children I envy your innocence.
I thought the term “Yacht Girl” was largely a term of the past, sort of like Yacht Music.
The name might change, but the meaning is the same.
I don’t think the problem is being ‘raised’ to lay about.
The problem is NOT being raised to reject it. But culture and media are all just as culpable as parents and often override them; so it’s not necessarily always the patents’ faults.
Even my old Grandmother, born 1890, believed that prostitution should be legalized and regulated. It would solve a lot of problems...
What am I missing here?
If they are 18+ or better yet 21+ why is this a thing?
They have placed a value on time spent with them. Not gold digging per se but, they understand their value in the market place.
Women and men have always “assayed” each other.
Sometimes “yer just hawt”. I know when I was driving a pinto in the 1980’s no one was inviting me to give them a pedicure and brush their hair because I was loaded....
Other times, yeah, it’s because your as rich as Belichick and some 23 year old has figured out she wants a certain confidence and competency from a man.(there really aren’t that many girls with a daddy issue). They also gain connections and education for business or careers that school can’t provide.
Other times it’s well, just a fun stupid time.
A wide variety of reasons to get on a yacht...you will probably never have the opporutunity to be on again for the rest of your life....
Etc, Etc, ETc.....
Around here, the term is “sport f***s”.
Read very recently where some Saudi (or other muzz) “rented “ her for a night for an insane price.
Once a ho, always a ho.
Scarlett Johannson is 41. She has aged out of young nubile roles. She’s being very hypocritical to complain about Sydney Sweeney. As you mention Scarlett was not shy about exploiting her body and looks.

They used to call them “socialites”.
If there was a magazine called Yacht Girls, a lot of us would go there just to read the articles.😎
