This doesn’t sound like real Amish to me: “ the mother placed her 4-year-old on the golf cart and began to drive recklessly”.

Probably a horse-drawn golf cart.

That’s what I was thinking too.
There’s something strange about this story.
I wonder what the toxicology and blood tests will reveal.
In Ohio, THC is legal, and you can actually accidentally buy THC infused beverages if you don’t read the labeling.
I know some people would scoff at this theory, but for someone with zero experience and tolerance for THC (such as some Amish, for example), it can really mess with your head.

in a golfcart? This doesn’t sound Amish to me. Maybe former Amish.

Depending on the Bishop’s orders the wheels of the vehicle have significance. The Amish are often not allowed to operate any vehicle with rubber wheels. The golf cart, having battery power would likely be okay. Something seriously mysterious with this Amish family.

I had no idea such drinks were on the market. Do you know the names of such products? That is really scary and yes I could agree they might have been drugged.

Amish go camping?

I'm not the local expert, but I think we have mostly Mennonites here which is more open with technology. "Amish" is frequently applied to them generically though true Amish is a more strict offshoot from the Mennonites.
You can see them at all sorts of places, fairs, amusement parks, anything day-to-day life really. The only real distinguishing characteristic is their "Amish style" manner of dress.
I may be wrong on specifics. But just know from personal experience you can see these folks interacting in all sorts of locations and environments.

Amish go camping?
At least in Ohio, yes. Like I said previously, they may be more correctly referred to as Mennonites. But I've seen them at amusement parks, fairs, festivals, restaraunts, etc in Ohio for many years.

Both Mennonites and Amish in Ohio and Indiana.
Went to school with them in SW Indiana and now I buy food from them in NW Ohio :)

I was at local hospital (Western Pa.) a few weeks ago, and a young Amish man was there also waiting for a test.
