I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone: for kings and all those in authority that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. ~ 1 Timothy 2:1-2

A king establishes a land by judgment, And one receiving gifts throws it down. (Prov. 29:4)
“A nation’s prosperity and security depend on righteous leaders, who prudently make decisions by justice and fairness. A nation’s downfall and ruin is certain, when its leaders are influenced by favors and rewards. Solomon here warned his son against political compromise in the office of king, especially the taking of bribes, lest he be the cause of the nation’s destruction.
All leaders should carefully heed this proverb to rule righteously. Rulers must have exceptional character, or they do not belong in their office. They should be so dedicated to principle that they cannot be bought for any price. Their character must be so strong as to mock any efforts to compromise justice, mercy, or truth. They should be noble far above their peers, with a fearless and committed hatred of evil. They must have one motive at all times – to make all decisions based on righteousness and wisdom. The fear of the LORD is the only basis for great leadership. Rulers must have an obligation to righteousness far above any duty or desire to men. The fear of man brings a snare (Prov. 29:25), and so does the love of gifts (Isa. 1:23). Neither temptation touches great rulers. They see one singular duty at all times – to rule in such a way as to please God.
When sound judgment, equity, and truth are exalted in the highest position of authority in a nation – the king or other civil ruler, the righteous example affects the whole nation. Masters, fathers, husbands, and pastors will follow the lead of their chief ruler. Wisdom will prevail in public and private, when a noble example is given from the highest office.
A ruler violating this proverb does not lose his authority, for he is still to be obeyed. But it is the duty of Christians to pray for rulers, so God will strengthen or overrule their character to be righteous leaders. . . . (taken from letgodbetrue.com/Proverbs)
LET US PRAY:
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior. (1 Tim. 2:1-3) AMEN

Psalm 64
To the leader. A Psalm of David.
1 Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint;
preserve my life from the dread enemy.
2 Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked,
from the scheming of evildoers,
3 who whet their tongues like swords,
who aim bitter words like arrows,
4 shooting from ambush at the blameless;
they shoot suddenly and without fear.
5 They hold fast to their evil purpose;
they talk of laying snares secretly,
thinking, ‘Who can see us?*
6 Who can search out our crimes?*
We have thought out a cunningly conceived plot.’
For the human heart and mind are deep.
7 But God will shoot his arrow at them;
they will be wounded suddenly.
8 Because of their tongue he will bring them to ruin;*
all who see them will shake with horror.
9 Then everyone will fear;
they will tell what God has brought about,
and ponder what he has done.
10 Let the righteous rejoice in the Lord
and take refuge in him.
Let all the upright in heart glory.

Amen. Praying in agreement. Father God, we give thanks that in spite of our imperfections as humans, You are still able to put us into places that achieve Your plan, like You did with King David. We pray for President Trump and our elected leaders that they mature and gain wisdom and develop qualities pleasing to You. We ask You in the Name of Jesus our King and Savior, Amen.
Amen.

Amen to your prayer. The Lord may have some other route we can not see here, perhaps an opportunity for leverage and not compromise.
Amen, Jeanbl
