Oh LORD,
Our God,
How Excellent is Your Holy Name!
How Glorious,
How Hallowed,
and How Wonderful!
You Alone Are Worthy Of Praise For You Alone Are Holy,
You Alone Are LORD,

Last Wednesday, I was so emotionally exhausted that I had to cancel two appointments. It actually amounted to four lessons, at two separate households. One appointment was very quickly taken care of with a nice phone call, and I had a few moments of friendly conversation with the Mom. She knew what I had been through for the last few days (weeks, months, YEARS), and wished me well, no problem, see you next week.

The other call went directly to Voice Mail, where I left a detailed, apologetic, message that conveyed Too Much Information (TMI). Because I was engaging in a One-Way Conversation, I hemmed and hawed, and wished I could re-record the whole thing:

"Hi sorry I can't come today, not feeling well, see you next week"

I rambled and bumbled along, and finally signed off.

An hour went by, and there was no responding telephone call. Nobody listens to recordings anymore, so I decided to send a TEXT. Texting is really hard for me because my flip phone looks like this:



Sometimes I have to hit a button four times to get the letter I want, and sometimes I pass the letter and have to scroll through again. Combined with my obsession with grammar and spelling, the buttons make Texting an extremely arduous process. And so, with proper spelling, punctuation, and syntax, along with TMI, the text explained that I was canceling the afternoon lessons. I didn't get an acknowledgment of the text, so about an hour later, sent another stumbling, bumbling text, and another long-winded over-explaining telephone call. I was getting more anxious by the hour. What if they expected me and I didn't show up?

Finally, about a half hour before the lesson, I got a Text:

"Are You Coming Today?"

I figured..OK she's holding the phone in her hands right now...she just sent a text. I'll call her. It went directly to Voice Mail again! So I texted back on a return path.

"NO."

Jesus said,

"Let your "Yes" be yes and your "No" mean no." (Mathew 5:37)

I have a real hard time with that. I also have a hard time conversing with empty air.

Today's Scripture Passage speaks of "The Communion of The Holy Spirit". This isn't speaking of the Communion Service, or the Bread and Wine, or the Eucharist. This Communion is from the word κοινωνία (koinania), which means fellowship, friendship, companionship, and unity.

The Communion of the Holy Spirit isn't dependent on technology. When you are praying, in fellowship with The Spirit, it is never a One-Way conversation. Your prayers aren't stuck in a queue in cyberspace, but are delivered instantly. While sometimes you may feel like your prayers are bouncing off the ceiling, they aren't. Communication is instantaneous, and God knows what you need before you even ask. Sometimes His answer isn't what you want to hear.

However, it WILL be the answer that is the right one.
