1 Timothy 2:1-2 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone: for kings and all those in authority that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

Psalm 111:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.

Proverbs 10:27 The fear of the Lord prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be short.

Proverbs 14:27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death.

Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor.

Proverbs 16:6 By steadfast love and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the Lord one turns away from evil.

Proverbs 19:23 The fear of the Lord leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm.

Proverbs 22:4 The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.

Father, We come again with thanksgiving for all You've done for us recently. Thank you for giving us another reprieve from all the evil that was threatening to obliterate us.

We thank You for the answer to pray for providing us with godly leaders who at least acknowledge you, if not make a profession of faith.

We ask that You'd teach us the fear of the Lord and how to walk in Your wisdom. Please instill a godly fear of You to all our political leaders that they may make right and righteous decisions as they ought, and that they'd practice the justice that You require of them.

We also think of the terrible situation in Syria now with the slaughter of so many innocent civilians by jihadists. Please protect those people and please, through this evil bring many people close to You. During this time of Ramadan, we also ask that those muslims who are truly seeking You would find You and that many would come to faith in You. Glorify Yourself through such a mighty work.

Lord, we pray for those in leadership and authority - that they will fear You. Give them Truth, that they may repent and cease the war against You and Your people.

Oh heavenly Father God, we lift the Christians in Syria and around the world who are being persecuted. Give them strength and peace in You. If it is Your Will, send a mighty army to intervene.
