Our Lord and Heavenly Father
King of Kings,
And Lord of Lords!
You are The Creator,
Everything That Exists is the Product of Your Magnificent Imagination!
You Are SO Awesome in All Your Ways
When I Look at Landscapes, or Starscapes,
Or Contemplate the Workings of the Human Brain,
The Development of a Baby in the Womb,
Or the Intricacies of the DNA Molecule,
What can I do, but Be Struck with Awesome Wonder,
And Say, "HOW GREAT THOU ART!"

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,

The following is a true story I wrote in 2018. It was in the context of a Study in the Gospel of John, when The Apostle Thomas expressed his doubts. However, at the end, I will connect it to Today's Passage about expressing one's Faith. For the Record, that treacherous intersection now has signs directing traffic into safe directions. I still avoid it though.

I have been REALLY sick with a tentative diagnosis of Lyme's Disease. I have gotten so many prayers from my FRiends, and I am truly grateful.

Yesterday, I was feeling a bit better, and I could not lose another day's pay so I ventured out to teach my brother Tom's grandson in a town 26 miles away. On the way, I saw a police car sitting on a side street.

"Speed Trap". I mused, and instinctively lowered my rate of speed. Suddenly the police car was behind me, all flashers going and at a high rate of speed. I knew this wasn't because I may have been traveling 2 miles over the speed limit, so I jerked the car over to the curb just in time for the patrol car, sirens blaring, and going faster than I had ever seen on that road. Maybe something at the High School? I had better AVOID THAT ROUTE!

So I went past the road that led to the High School, and altered my course to take a much more rural route that is my favorite when enjoying my Harley rides. There was only one snag on this route that is "scary" as there are no traffic controls where it crosses a main street. You can only cross the street when there is no traffic in either direction, and sometimes you have to wait a bit.

As I came over the hill nearing this intersection, I saw the ACCIDENT. There had to be at least ten emergency vehicles, all with their lights flashing, and, on its side on the street, like a beached whale, was the most beautiful bike I had ever seen. Turquoise blues, custom paint, leather saddlebags, recent vintage high-end Harley Davidson Road King, that looked like it must have been a dream to ride. Directly in front of me was a big black SUV-Type Vehicle with its entire Left Front quarter stove in...then I saw the Rider. The EMTs were cutting off his clothing and immobilizing his on a stretcher. His bare feet stuck out, attached to a pair of pale white legs, and he wasn't moving. I immediately started praying.

"Well, there goes my SECOND thing I love!" I grumbled in my mind. "My Hikes in the woods are blighted by the fear of Lyme's Disease, and now, every time I get on the Bike, I am going to see those pale, white, bare feet!"

I had to re-direct my thoughts to PRAYER all the way to my brother's house, and my guitar-playing was sub-standard due to my distress.

Tom and his wife treated me to a delicious dinner, and then I headed home. On the way home, I felt myself wanting to go back the same way, but the Lord seemed to be directing me to go home on the street where the High School was located. Then, THAT street was blocked by utility work, and traffic was being diverted by a very young and good-looking "Rookie" police officer.

I rolled down my window and asked the officer if he had been at the accident scene earlier.

"No, I've been here all afternoon, on this detail," he said. "But as soon as I heard about it, I started praying."

"Me Too!" I exclaimed.

I just checked the report,' he said, "And he's going to be just fine! It looks as though you and I both started praying at the same time."

I realized at that point he was speaking to me, not in an official capacity, but as my BROTHER. A huge weight lifted off my heart.

When I got home, I opened an email from my doctor stating that all my blood tests were normal, and the Lyme's test was negative.

And I feel great too...all the symptoms are gone.

That story was from seven years ago. Now here is one that is more recent. I went to an Audiologist to see if I could get an upgrade on my hearing aids. The office was cheerfully decorated with paintings and posters that had Bible Verses on them. I instantly connected with the people there, and was given a free hearing evaluation. My hearing aids (which had been a gift) were not the kind they serviced, but the Audiologist cleaned them up, gave me a bunch of fresh ear buds and cleaning sticks, and said "come back anytime for a tune up". They always send me a beautiful Scripture card at Christmas, even though I'm not exactly a customer.

Anyway, I looked them up online, and there was a bunch of bad reviews on the page, specifically because of the Bible Verse Decor. The venom and hatred in the reviews were palpable! Even though I had given the Place five stars, the hateful one-star reviews (because of the decor, not the services provided) diluted the average, so they had a poor rating. It made me very sad. But I admire the Audiologist for NOT removing the decor, based upon those bad reviews.

Both the Rookie Policeman and the Audiologist took a chance by expressing their Faith, especially when they were "on duty". The Cop , especially, could have gotten into big trouble, and the Audiologist lost customers. Nevertheless, we have religious Freedom guaranteed by the First Amendment. While some may contend that means Freedom from Religion, that was not the intent. While Christians have to deal with derision, lawsuits, economic hardship, boycotts, and so on for expressing their Faith, it is nothing like what goes on in other countries like Sudan, North Korea, and Iran. Just yesterday, I received an email about the increasing persecution of Christians in many countries, some of which are allies of the United States.

It makes our own "persecutions" seem very small in comparison.
