The number one podcast in the world to start off the new year doesn’t belong to Joe Rogan.
It belongs to Father Mark-Mary Ames of Ascension Press. Or, really, as he told Fox News Digital, it belongs to God.
In a time when Bible sales are seeing a sudden spike amid research that suggests people are unsubscribing from religiosity at large, it comes as somewhat of a surprise that "The Rosary in a Year (with Fr. Mark-Mary Ames, CFR)" climbed to #1 on Apple Podcasts to start off the new year — holding that spot for three consecutive days before falling to a noteworthy #2 on January 4.
Its humble host is the director of communications and the director of Priestly Studies of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal (CFR)
...Father Mark-Mary Ames, who was born and raised in Orange County, California in what he described as a "wealthy family," said he was inspired by Mother Teresa to give up a life of privilege for the service of others.
"I heard that there's a group of Franciscans in New York who are hardcore and sleep on the ground. And I looked them up, and I read our constitutions — which are what we say we're about — and I’m like, 'if that's true, that's everything I'm looking for.' So I was a very, very normal kid, on a normal path. And then God just sort of made this happen."
"I'm made to give my life to the poorest of the poor," he added. "The big, deep experience of my life is what God's done in generosity. And so there's nothing I've left behind or sacrificed that he hasn't been repaid a hundred-fold. It's in new and deeper ways."

Admittedly, I’m not a religious scholar but the interest in religion goes back and forth, I believe belief in God and Jesus Christ is on the upswing, it’s a natural response with the evil that exists in the world today.
I wonder if traditional organized religion will be the beneficiary of this upswing in religious beliefs.
The Catholic Church with this Pope is not exactly inspiring people to the Catholic faith, the Episcopal Church I was raised in is unrecognizable, other traditionally mainstream Christian religions seem to be going in the same direction.
I signed up yesterday. I have been praying the rosary twice every day for the past year. Has made a huge difference in my life. Fr. Mark Mary also has a You tube video of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
Reminds of what Milton Berle said when asked why Bishop Fulton Sheen got better ratings than him “Sheen had better writers”
Here`s the Deal:
Matt. 19:
16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”
17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”
18 “Which ones?” he inquired.
Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,’[c] and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’[d]”
20 “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”
21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
22 he When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.
[If you are rich and you give up your life to God, but you don`t give all your wealth to the poor, but leave it to relatives before you join the order, it aint` the Deal.
Better to keep making lotsa money and give it all aways directly to poor families etc, not charities, while you are making it.] cf luke 19:
When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”
8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Half-way is better than nothing. that`s the Deal.
Widow`s Mite.
This priest sounds like a true Franciscan.
God doesn’t hear repetitive prayer.
I have a little story about a true Franciscan. I was living in the middle of Montana and very small town. My husband is dying and in hospice. The social worker asked me what I wanted to do about the spiritual and I said I didn’t want that Episcopal priest, who was a lesbian former stripper who had moved to town to do last rites etc. I said what I really like is to have a Catholic priest but I can’t get one because I’m not Catholic.
The social worker said, I don’t know, I have a friend who’s in town who might be rogue enough to do this. The next day I got a knock on the door. It was a priest there with a cap that said Father Tom. He came in and became part of our family. He was a Franciscan from Michigan doing Supply in the middle of Montana. He came over every day for a month , prayed with us, ate with us, and when it came time to do the funeral, he insisted that he was doing it, and he convinced the lesbian priest to use her church.
What about Mary, does she hear them? And what if a person is clutching a crucifix in one hand and rosary beads in another . . . and I almost forgot, the scapular. Surely the scapular would get the message through. If that doesn't work, we may have to go back to regular praying what's in our hearts.
God doesn’t hear repetitive prayer.
Lol (fingers in ears “la la la la la not hearing you la la la...)
Rosary....the life of Christ through Mary’s eyes
That was very nice of Father Tom to be there when you most needed spiritual support.
It's just another component of the worship of Mary advanced and supported by the Roman Catholic Church.
Wrong
Learn what the rosary is before hurling insults.
Because Jesus didn’t give a formula for a prayer when asked how to pray?
Did he also say to pray this prayer only once and not repeat it?
I missed the part where he said only pray a random, made up prayer from your heart.
I have. It is a prayer to Mary.
Paul tells believers to make supplications to God. It’s in Philippians. One of the books rome claims to have given every one. You outta read it sometime.
In the time of Jesus ministry, Mary was still alive. She had yet to be translated and crowned queen of heaven.
What? You think there's something wrong with being honest with God?
It’s over 50 prayers to Mary, and about 8 to the Father.
Almost the whole focus of the rosary is Mary.
Imagine if Catholics spent as much time focus on Jesus and praying to God as they do to Mary.....
