"...angels are not constrained by the laws of physics or space-time dimensions."

So, they've known about this all along or is it just another one of those latent accommodations made to support a theory or theories of the existence of angels?

Why would an angel have a belly button?

Here's a condensed summary by ChatGPT (Astrophysicist Hugh Ross is always interesting):
This segment from the John Ankerberg Show features a discussion between John Ankerberg and astrophysicist Dr. Hugh Ross, focusing on UFOs, extraterrestrials, and their potential relation to Biblical teachings. Dr. Ross explains the scientific view of the universe's origin, emphasizing the fine-tuning required for human life and how this points to a transcendent God. The conversation transitions to UFO phenomena, suggesting that such occurrences might involve spiritual beings, particularly fallen angels, who can appear in various forms, including as UFOs.

The Bible warns against practices like divination, sorcery, and seeking supernatural powers, which can open doors for demonic influence. Dr. Ross highlights the connection between these spiritual dangers and encounters with UFOs, noting that many UFO-related messages align with deceptive spiritual forces. The Bible, they argue, provides guidance to avoid such deceptions and points out that many of these encounters are spiritual, rather than extraterrestrial, in nature. Ultimately, Christians are encouraged to remain vigilant and grounded in scripture to avoid being misled by these phenomena.

Here's the full transcript for those who read faster than the video speed:

John Ankerberg: Between air space or through the sea, as followers of Christ, how do we make sense of millions of reports of UFO phenomena from around the world? Does the potential presence of extraterrestrial life and reports of alien abductions of people challenge the foundations of Biblical teaching? Or might UFO phenomena serve as one of the most compelling present-day proofs that a Biblical understanding of reality is indeed accurate?

This series is about UFOs and alien abductions. My guest is astronomer and astrophysicist Dr. Hugh Ross, who obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in physics from the University of British Columbia, his Ph.D. in astronomy from the University of Toronto, and for five years did post-doctoral research at Caltech on quasars and galaxies. Join us for this special series you will see only on the John Ankerberg Show.

John Ankerberg: Welcome to our program. I'm John Ankerberg, and my guest is astrophysicist and astronomer Dr. Hugh Ross. I want to start with a couple of areas today, but our overall topic is extraterrestrials and UFOs. The topic that I want to use to get into that is how the universe came into existence from nothing, and we've got an expert on that topic. Let me ask it this way:

Dr. Ross, scientists have said there was nothing — space-time did not exist, and matter and energy weren’t there. And then, all of a sudden, you had the Big Bang. In the very first second, actually less than the first second, all ten dimensions came into existence. And so, talk about that, because it’s important — we wouldn’t have human life unless it had changed and been fine-tuned exactly at that moment, or we wouldn’t be here.

Dr. Hugh Ross: Well, let’s begin with the space-time theorems. The first one was published in 1970. Today, we’ve got over 30 of these theorems, and they’re based on two fundamental assumptions. The theorems are true if:

The universe contains mass — and we’re all living proof that it does, right?

The equations of general relativity reliably describe the movements of galaxies, stars, planets, and the universe — which we can now prove to about 14 or 15 places in the decimal.

What the theorems tell us is that if those two things are true, space and time had a beginning. They were created when the universe came into existence, implying that the cause of the universe must be some being beyond space and time that created our universe, including matter, energy, space, and time.

God created the universe — this causal agent, God, created the universe infinitesimally small but also nearly infinitely hot. He designed it with the property of ongoing expansion. As the universe expanded, it got bigger and cooler. At first, it was very hot, with just one force of physics and nine dimensions of space and one dimension of time. But as the universe expanded and cooled, gravity separated out from the other forces of physics, stopping the expansion of six of the space dimensions. So, now we have three dimensions of space getting bigger while six remain the same size.

John Ankerberg: So, why is that important to us?

Dr. Hugh Ross: It’s important because it’s the only way to integrate a particle creation model with a cosmic creation model. This explains how we get fundamental particles, quantum mechanics, and gravity coexisting — all of which are essential for physical life. This implies that the causal agent who created the universe is bigger than 10 space-time dimensions.

John Ankerberg: Now, we’re talking about UFOs and extraterrestrials. So, let’s jump to the fact that the transcendent God, who was outside of all of that and started it all, had a purpose for fine-tuning the universe. He wanted human beings to eventually come into existence on a special place called Earth. Why? Because He wanted people that He could create, giving them the choice to love Him or not.

When Adam and Eve were in the garden, they were enjoying God’s company. But God also created another intelligent species — angels. Unlike us, angels are not constrained by the laws of physics or space-time dimensions. They live in a different realm but can come into ours briefly. As Hebrews 13:2 says, "Many of you have entertained angels unawares." Some of these angels rebelled against God, becoming evil angels.

God uses the laws of physics to eradicate evil while enhancing our free will to experience and express love.

John Ankerberg: The Bible says in Hebrews 13:2: “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing so some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” This means that angels can appear in our realm in different forms — sometimes as human beings or even as a flying saucer. Does this explain some of the UFO phenomena?

Dr. Hugh Ross: Yes. When we see UFO phenomena, we need to realize that God has granted angels the ability to appear in different forms. This explains why UFO sightings are different today than they were a thousand years ago. Angels can take different forms.

John Ankerberg: What is the goal of these evil angels?

Dr. Hugh Ross: Their goal is to persuade as many people as possible to rebel against God and reject His offer of salvation.

John Ankerberg: We believe that there’s a connection between what the Bible says about evil angels and extraterrestrials/UFOs. For those who don’t know, give us a quick definition of UFOs and extraterrestrials.

Dr. Hugh Ross: Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) or Unexplained Aerial Phenomena (UAP) are phenomena people observe that violate the laws of physics, but they are real. There’s evidence from crash sites, but no artifacts or debris that follow the laws of physics. Angels have the power to violate these laws.

John Ankerberg: What’s interesting is that the more people seek power from evil angels, the more likely they are to have UFO encounters, especially close encounters.

Why would an angel have a belly button?

Or better yet, why would an artist draw an angel as a baby with a belly button and wings?

Probably because of bad mythology.

“why would an artist draw an angel as a baby with a belly button and wings?”

Because it was just his imagination running away with him.

Yep. Rennaissance and Baroque artists were probably basing their depictions--erroneously--on Eros/Cupid.

There is nothing in Christian, Jewish, or even Islamic lore than would support that image.

Anges are almost always fearsome (which is why they usually say immediately "Don't be afraid" when encountered).

ChatGpt...biased non AI as discussed before. As of yesterday it still states there was no assassination attempt on Trump but does state its programing was updated 23 September. When you argue it’s biased you get cut off and have to join. Don’t argue and you can chat away.

I read *Chariots of the Gods* when I was in high school and before I became a Christian.

To my mind back then it seemed mostly plausible, given some of the descriptions in the OT of how it looked and sounded, it did kind of fit with the sci-fi stuff I would read.

But there were still gaping holes in his theory. The book wasn’t totally convincing.

That’s almost 3 hours long!

What is the Cliff notes version.

DO they think interplanetary or interstellar travel is possible? Dr. Ross says no and for some very good reasons.
