Our Father in Heaven,
We Praise Your Holy Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship,
For You Alone Are The One True God.
Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent,
Teach us To Be Open to Opportunities,

The Dry Weight of my Motorcycle is approximately 650 Pounds. (Yes, I use American measurements). With a Full Tank of Gas, Full Saddlebags and Me, it is over 800. Yet, it isn't nearly as heavy as some of the big Touring Bikes. Although I have had to lift it up off the street in the past, I doubt if I would be able to do that now. It is very important to keep it UPRIGHT at all times! This is good advice for Young and Old Riders, Male and Female, and for all bikes, Domestic and Foreign..

A good rule to follow is that Both Feet have to be flat on the ground when you are in a stopped position. No "ballerina tippy-toes" allowed. Knees slightly bent, not stretched to the limit. I'm rather short, and the first thirty years of my Riding Life were like that. It was OK with lighter bikes, but as soon as I got Blue in 1993, I knew that she had to be "chopped" front and back. This operation left the bike lowered almost two inches all around, and hindered the suspension somewhat, but now, both of my feet reach the ground, nice and flat. To this day, I despise "Hi-Top" seating in Restaurants because my feet don't reach the ground. I'm an Old Biker, for Heavens Sake. Seat me where my feet can reach the floor!

Over the years, a number of ladies have asked me to teach them how to ride. One of their primary concerns is keeping the thing upright.

"What if it tips over?" they ask fearfully.

"Look," I tell them. "You have three things working in your favor.

1. Inertia: A body in motion wants to STAY in motion. Your bike WANTS to stay upright if it's moving forward.

2. Centrifugal Force: The Inertia that keeps keeps your bike going forward is also providing you with a stability that includes your body. That's why you can lean into a turn without tipping the bike over.

3. Gravity: Gravity is your FRIEND. It keeps you and the bike from flying off into space as a result of the other two aforementioned forces."

There you have it! The most unscientific, rudimentary, use of "Classical Mechanics" to alleviate fear. After all, those are the same Three Forces that keep the Planets revolving around the Sun. Those are the Laws that govern the Motion of Galaxies. Surely, it's comforting to know that the Laws of The Universe are on your side!


While we have Natural Laws to keep the bike upright, what do we have to keep our souls "upright"? Seriously, is there anything more disheartening than a person's spirit that has become so degraded by sin, that it's like a old broken-down bike, lying flat on the street, so weighted down with rust and rot that it seems NOBODY can pick it up? Is there anybody Who can pick up that old relic, clean it up, get it upright and running again?

In this Excerpt from Psalms, we see that there IS Someone. He is The Holy Spirit Who makes us "Upright". Another word for "Upright" is "Righteous". And another Name for the Holy Spirit is "The Spirit of Righteousness".

Something to think about, as you get "In The Wind".
