What's the difference between a Jesuit, including Bergoglio, and a protestant pastor?

The Jesuit still claims he's a Catholic.

Plenty of Protestant pastors condemn homosexuality.

Problem is, it doesn’t make the news because it can’t be used by Catholics to try to smear Protestants, as if the Catholic church were morally pure itself.

The Catholic church takes the moral high ground in condemning others for what it allows in its own ranks. When they start clearing out all the homosexual priests and child molesting priests and nuns, they they might have cause to point fingers.

Until then “official” position means absolutely nothing when it’s not followed. Actions do speak louder than words.

Clean house first before pointing fingers.

Otherwise, Catholics are in no position of accusing others of hypocrisy, being ones themselves for condemning in others what they allow in their own ranks.

Apparently not, for some people.

Nature itself condemns the futility of a man spending his seed where it does not belong, namely where it generates new life.

“Birth control,” masturbation, anal sex, oral sex upon the male; these are all abuses not only of nature but much more.

Obviously there is not one person who has not gone astray in this matter, except the little ones whose lives have been ripped out of creation without due process.

Both have far to many false teachers these days. The problem is people need to first have a personal relation with Christ and take on accountability for knowing the Scripture and understanding God’s word through prayer.

Make no mistake, when the great deception comes Catholics and Protestants alike (the institutions) will eagerly deceive their followers. To much deference has been given to the clergy in both allowing them to be no different than the Bishop in Dante’s Inferno

If you didn’t have the Bible, gathered together by the Catholic Church, what would you have?

As usual, you were the first to point fingers.

Every chance y’all get.

I find that quite common in ex-catholics on this forum.

Well, it’s been a while. Always good to get a fresh voice for the youngsters. If it’s not on Tik Tok or Instagram, or maybe Google maps? they prob never even heard of it.

(I wonder if the Catholic Church has an Instagam account)?

Regardless of whoever points a finger one should first ascertain the veracity of the charge.

Literally the pope has appointed to the role protector of the faith a Cardinal who writes perverse sexual literature and the pope allows blessing those mocking Christ with the sin of homosexuality. Is it not a sin to condone, even if just tacitly, sinful behavior? Yes we are all sinners but we do not have to celebrate it. Don’t you think that is something of an issue?

We would still have the Bible, unless you think somehow God could not have given us the Bible without Catholicism.

Also I find it a bit disingenuous to keep making such claims, the Church is the body of believers, not the institution of Catholicism, or do you believe other wise?

How about we credit the body of Christ as the Church being the believers as Christ said it is.

Don’t you think that is something of an issue?

Why do you think I've been posting these threads?

Do you just pontificate to hear yourself?

the Catholic Church teaches that sodomy is intrinsically evil and always sinful and that Scripture condemns it

There is such a thing as teaching by example.

In this particular case, the example set by the Catholic Church in recent years, and perhaps since St. Peter Damian wrote his work on homosexual clergy preying on boys and men NINE HUNDRED YEARS AGO, certainly does not affirm what you say they teach.

James Martin is not a Catholic. His religion is sodomy.

Do you deny Matt 16:17-19?

Why did Jesus tell Peter (Luke 22:32) that He had prayed for him that his faith not fail him, and that he should convert his brethren (fellow Apostles)?

The entirety of Acts makes clear that, for whatever faults he may have had, Peter was the chosen one.

You can reject Jesus’ authority as He exerted it in Scripture, but that seems contrary to the Spirit.
