Only about a quarter of American Christians say the Bible influences their views on Israel as the Israel-Hamas war continues after the Oct. 7 attack on civilians in southern Israel killed over 1,200 and prompted an Israeli military offensive in Gaza.
Lifeway Research, in collaboration with The Philos Project, conducted a survey asking 1,252 American Christians for their views on the Israel-Hamas war. The poll, conducted between Nov. 14 and 21 and released Dec. 14, has a margin of error of +/-2.9 percentage points.
Respondents were asked about what has “influenced” their views about Israel and were given a list of responses that they could select all that apply. About 27% of Christians selected the Bible, suggesting that among 73% of respondents, the Bible does not inform their views of Israel.
The Bible was the second most commonly cited answer, coming in behind the media at 56%.
Other sources of opinions on Israel cited by American Christians include friends and family (26%), personal experiences with Jews (13%), positions of elected officials (13%), their local church (12%), national Christian leaders (10%), teachers or professors (6%) and personal experiences with Palestinians (5%).

Thomas Jefferson wrote John Adams, “I can never join Calvin in addressing his God. He was indeed an athiest, which I can never be; or rather his religion was demonism. If ever man worshipped a false God he did.”
Do their bibles omit almost the whole bible? How about Romans9-11?
Probably because 73% of self proclaimed Christians never read the Bible
bingo!
Not so much on Zionism though, I'll wager.
Yes, YESHUA will deal very severely with Israels sins, but only he can do it, he does not look kindly on those who try tp do it themselves.
Self-identified?
I want to be on GOD’s side - not Him on MY side!
Yes, the Lord will judge Israel, and it is presumptious for any Christian to think that they would be part of that.
I think we should try to help as best we can, but frankly, the best “help” Israel could receive from countries like the USA is to not constantly undermine and sabotage them as they try to fight against their enemies.
“Tempora mutantur.”
“Times are changed; we also are changed with them”
I’ve also heard it as “Times change and with them their demands”.
I don’t think Israel is always right about everything. Nor wrong either.
That’s another Israel. The Bible has zero to say about the modern state of Israel.
Thoughts about Israel are something most people have had lately. Everyone is talking about Israel...and the Jews.
The reason they are talking about Israel is--wait for it--it's been in the news.
And where do people get their news?
The survey has the answer.
That's the reason people should never trust statistics. The way the questions are phrased, when they are asked, the actual persons asked (where, how old, gender, apparent erudition, attire)...
Polls are like laboratory experiments. If you can't go examine, assay, and/or confirm every minute detail of it, you can't trust it.
73% of American Christians don’t read their Bibles.
To some extent they can be overall reliable (only 3.4 percent of American journalists are Republicans ...) in some but as said, such are often inaccurate, sometimes on purpose (contrived stats: Survey Questions Used by USDA to Assess Household Food Security) as can the use of them.
baloney research - “Lifeway Research - Enlightening Churches with Research...” that’s from their website.
means they are pushing an agenda.
That’s really sad.
Amen!
Amen !
John 4:21
Jesus replied, "Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.
I agree with you.
My thoughts exactly. Maybe this 73% has little or no idea about what God says about Israel.
