Bible Prophecy Begins and Ends With Israel
Harbingers Daily ^ | 12/27/23 | Dr. Robert Jeffress

Imagine you open to the middle of John Grisham’s latest best-seller. Immediately you face unfamiliar names and locations. To make sense of the story you flip to the end. But the ending seems more confusing than the middle. You slam the book shut in disgust. Grisham has really lost his touch, you conclude.

This analogy is about as subtle as a sledgehammer. But it illustrates why so many people have trouble with Bible prophecy. To understand prophecy, we should not start in the middle of the Book—with Ezekiel and Daniel—or at the end with Revelation. No, we should begin at the beginning—with Genesis.

It’s there, in Genesis 12:1-3, that God makes a startling promise to a man named Abraham. All prophecy hangs on this promise, or “covenant.” To better understand this covenant, and how it relates to prophecy, let’s look at the contents of the covenant, the character of the covenant, and the consequences of the covenant.

Content of the Covenant

The first thing God promised Abraham was Land. Abraham was born in the idolatrous city of Ur, around 2166 BC. In His sovereign grace, God called Abraham out of this lifestyle.

In Genesis 12:1 God says, “Go forth from your country, and from your relatives and from your father’s house, to the land which I will show you.” At the age of 75, Abraham uprooted his family and possessions and moved to a distant country he had never seen. It was only later, after Abraham had acted, that God provided the details of that land in Genesis 15:18-21.

God also promised Abraham a lineage to fill the land. Genesis 12:2 states, “And I will make you a great nation.” Genesis 22:17 adds, “I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the seashore.” Remember, God made this promise to Abraham when he was 75 years old. Not only this, but his wife, Sarah, was barren. Yet God fulfilled this promise, giving them physical and spiritual descendants beyond number.

In addition to a land and a seed, God also promised to make Abraham a lasting blessing. Genesis 12:3 states, “In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” In this climax of the covenant, God was saying, “Through you Abraham, I will bring a Savior who will redeem the world.” How do we get a Savior from Genesis 12:3? From the New Testament.

Galatians 3:8 states, “The scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham saying, ‘All the nations will be blessed in you.’” God preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ to Abraham. And Abraham was saved by it.

Galatians 3:6 tells us, “Even so, Abraham believed God and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.” People in the Old Testament were saved the same way we are: by God’s grace through faith. Abraham looked forward to Christ for salvation, and we look back to Him.

Character of the Covenant

We have seen that God promised Abraham a land, a lineage, and a lasting blessing. But were these promises symbolic? Were they temporary? Could they be lost? How we answer these questions determines how we view Bible prophecy. Thankfully, God’s Word gives us some answers.

First, God’s covenant with Abraham was literal. We see this from Abraham’s response. In Genesis 12:4-5 we read, “[Abraham] went forth as the Lord had spoken to him… and they set out for the land of Canaan; thus they came to the land of Canaan.” If Abraham thought Canaan was only symbolic of Heaven, why did he go through all the trouble of moving to Canaan? Certainly, he was looking for Heaven as well, as Hebrews 11:10 states. But he was also looking for an earthly home. In addition to being literal, the covenant was eternal. Genesis 13:15 states, “All the land which you see, I will give it to you and your descendants forever.” God placed no expiration date on the promise.

Finally, God’s covenant was unconditional. In Abraham’s day, kings would establish contracts by taking animals, splitting them in two, and placing the halves in two lines. The parties would then walk side-by-side through the animal pieces, holding a torch. This signified that the covenant was dependent upon each party keeping his end of the bargain. But when God ratified the agreement with Abraham in Genesis 15:9-21, only God passed between the pieces. This signified that the promise had nothing to do with Abraham’s obedience. It had everything to do with God’s faithfulness.

Genesis 13:15 states, “All the land which you see, I will give it to you and your descendants forever.” God placed no expiration date on the promise.

Consequences of the Covenant

So what does this have to do with prophecy? Since 1948, Israel has possessed the Promised Land—but not all of it. True, God sent a blessing to all the world through Jesus Christ. He rules right now in the hearts of believers. But he’s not yet sitting on the throne of David in Jerusalem. That prophecy will still be literally fulfilled.

You may say, “I’m not Jewish. Why should I care?” Just as God made unconditional promises to believing Jews, He has made promises to you and me.

In John 10:28 Jesus said, “I give eternal life to them and no man shall snatch them out of my hands.” The God who can be trusted to keep His promises to Israel, is the same God we can depend on to keep His promises to us. We’ve seen that God’s promise to Abraham includes land, a lineage, and a lasting blessing. We’ve noted that the covenant was literal, eternal, and unconditional.

We know that part of it has not yet been fulfilled. And we know that God’s faithfulness to complete it demonstrates how faithful He will be to us.

We now know how the story begins. We are ready to dive into the middle and the end. And because of God’s faithfulness, we know it will have a perfect ending.

Sounds like you continue to play your game of “Christians are well aware of it”, but I’m not going to/won’t/can’t produce it.

If there’s a NON-CONDITIONAL eternal promise made to LITERAL/CORPORATE Israel, please post the text. That is all I have ever asked. You said you were a Christian, so you must be well aware of it. Sounds like a good opportunity for you to witness to me and everyone who believes as I do. Will you?

The first 11 chapters of Genesis are the foundation of the Bible.

Got that from Answers in Genesis ie Ken Ham, and it’s so true.

Any Christian who hasn’t read thise chapters straight through should do so ASAP.

All in its good time:

The Torah literally begins with a big bet [ב].

Which is also the big house.

Which is also the meaning of the word "Pharaoh".

The big bet is a visual analog for timekeeping in that the usual letters -- when followed by a geresh in certain contexts -- represent thousands .

Ergo, a big bet is a 2, times 1000. The hope of 2000 years.

It goes on, even without leaving the big house, the very first letter of the Torah:

In astronomy, an epoch or reference epoch is a moment in time used as a reference point for some time-varying astronomical quantity.

>>>

The equinox with equator/ecliptic of a given date defines which coordinate system is used. Most standard coordinates in use today refer to 2000 TT (i.e. to 12h (noon) on the Terrestrial Time scale on January 1, 2000, see below), which occurred about 64 seconds sooner than noon UT1 on the same date (see ΔT). Before about 1984, coordinate systems dated to 1950 or 1900 were commonly used.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epoch_(astronomy)#Julian_years_and_J2000

(2000 occurs 28x on that page)

Then the exceedingly ironic but predictable part is that "Nobody's got time fo' dat", resulting in surprise when midnight arrives. Some won't ever see it coming, even (or especially) because they'd been busy staring at the clock the whole time.

Outside of the cubicle is a place where nobody even thinks about watching the clock.

People typically get annoyed with my rambling because from their perspective it's all a bunch of gibberish, even some kind of unseemly, "know-it-all" dysfunction.

Yet what do I know -- not much of anything, which is precisely why I keep on keeping on, looking stuff up all the time. It does add up over time.

The normal order involves relying upon the 'tried and true' experts in the field, to lead the way with their fine reputations that get around.

They can be trusted, for example, to produce new material$ on faith and hope, like clockwork.

Meanwhile, in the lighted corner of the universe,

Genesis 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

EGYPT: one of those letters simply does not go with the others. It does not rhyme, even right on the face of it all.

What happens next is that the hieroglyphics also have the same basic shape within, in the same relative position no less, for different linguistic reasons entirely.

It's the very life force [kꜣ (“ka”)] of Egypt, of Egypt's 'creator god' Ptah [פתח (אל)].

Be a real shame if it should depart all of a sudden.

Eventually, Pharaoh relented and showed Moses the door, even throwing the keys at him. Curses!

"There's the door!"

Huh?

The answer is blowin' in the whind. If I should hazard a guess what happened to it, I'd say it got lost somewhere in the wine--whine merger.

It would not surprise me if the best libraries in the land had been located in the leper colonies, or somewhere far up north. It's not like those folks would be spending any time at fancy parties.

He is the Alpha and Omega.
He holds the keys to death and Hades.
He is the Word made Flesh.
He is the Star of Israel.

There’s still a lot of work to do with regards to the Eternal Salvation of your beloved brethren - Israel.

As JD Farag states:

The purpose of the Tribulation
is for the Salvation
of The Jewish Nation

Zechariah 12:10

“And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.”

And for that matter - Psalm 2

1Why do the nations rage

and the peoples plot in vain?

2The kings of the earth take their stand

and the rulers gather together,

against the LORD

and against His Anointed One:

3“Let us break Their chains

and cast away Their cords.”

4The One enthroned in heaven laughs;

the Lord taunts them.

5Then He rebukes them in His anger,

and terrifies them in His fury:

6“I have installed My King on Zion,

upon My holy mountain.”

7I will proclaim the decree

spoken to Me by the LORD:

“You are My Son;

today I have become Your Father.

8Ask Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance,

the ends of the earth Your possession.

9You will break them with an iron scepter;

You will shatter them like pottery.

10Therefore be wise, O kings;

be admonished, O judges of the earth.

11Serve the LORD with fear,

and rejoice with trembling.

12Kiss the Son, lest He be angry

and you perish in your rebellion,

when His wrath ignites in an instant.

Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.

There’s a lot of misunderstanding on this thread - there always is when I post these 😉

God will never back out of anything He states.
He doesn’t change His mind.
He doesn’t get caught by surprise.
He is always slow to anger with His Children.

He will do what He promised “For His Name’s Sake”.

Ezekiel 36:22
“Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.”

Deuteronomy 7:8
But because the LORD loved you and kept the oath He swore to your fathers, He brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

Deuteronomy 9:6
Understand, then, that it is not because of your righteousness that the LORD your God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stiff-necked people.

Psalm 115:1
Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to Your name be the glory, because of Your loving devotion, because of Your faithfulness.

A lot of people on this thread question God.

That’s not a good place to be in!

The concept that you just can’t seem to grasp is that God does not show favoritism. God does not change his standards for anyone, including you, me, Syncro, literal Israel, or anyone else, no matter who they are or claim to be. That phrase is a CALL TO OBEDIENCE and to live according to God’s standard, which is his law/commandments. His covenant with LITERAL ISRAEL was CONDITIONAL upon OBEDIENCE. We will all be judged by that standard, beginning at the house of God.

1 Peter 4: 17For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 19Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Romans 2: 11For there is no respect of persons with God. 12For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; 13(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. 14For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: 15Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) 16In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

The promises that were promised to the SEED OF ABRAHAM, are now manifest in those in Christ Jesus. Literal/corporate Israel is finished. They did not repent, even in the 490 years given them to do so. The stoning of Stephen was the final act of rebellion and unbelief. The kingdom of God was taken from them and given to another, which would bear fruit through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Literal Israel was to be a witness to God. They failed. The kingdom was taken from them and given to the Gentiles (those in Christ Jesus), the “church”.

Deuteronomy 4:5Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it. 6Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people. 7For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for? 8And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

He rules right now in the hearts of believers. But he’s not yet sitting on the throne of David in Jerusalem. That prophecy will still be literally fulfilled.

jerUSAlem 🤔

"Thinky" ponders, "Uh oh, that's just the type of wrong-think that would get me thrown headlong off of a cliff."

Oooh, well anyway...

JERUSALEM

ירושלים

6 [ו] + 300 [ש]

I've seen that 6 + 300 pattern, way back in the beginning:

Genesis 1
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God [ורוח אלהים] hovered upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

American Bandstand De De Dinah Frankie Avalon

Avalon...

a mythical island featured in the Arthurian legend... a place of magic where King Arthur's sword Excalibur was made...

That's some confused etymology for the name of the place. Who can make any sense out of that? Probably more fruitful to check the Hebrew name:

אבלון

Much better, because there's the stone, great! And a lamed-vav stuck inside. All 36, actually. I wouldn't mess with those folks. If they pull out, it's curtains.

I had to chuckle at the info at the top of the לו page:

Compare Arabic لَوْ‎ (law).

Law.

To cut to the chase, that word/phrase "לו" is code for David; i.e. when he went missing in the King James. The English translation acts like he's there, but only "לו" is in his place.

David going missing, from this search page:

1Sa 20:18
Then Jonathan said to David, H1732 To morrow is the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty.

Or more literally, being taken notice of for *not* being in his seat. And here we are.

He rules right now in the hearts of believers. But he's not yet sitting on the throne of David in Jerusalem. That prophecy will still be literally fulfilled.

It's an important detail because there's David [with his associated concordance number], as if he's really there. If he weren't there, his name should have been italicized, and verse 20:18 should not have come up in a search for the Hebrew word.

It's not just this program -- printed books do not have "David" italicized either, even though

...the words in italics are words which do not have any equivalence in the Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek text. By adding these words, the translators' goal was to make the meaning of the sentence clearer and produce a more readable translation that read smoothly, yet was true to the original. However, to make sure that the reader understood that these words were not in the manuscripts, they set them in italics.

https://kjbrc.org/the-use-of-italics-in-the-king-james-bible/

Then by looking into the verse, "to David", there's only לו, "to him" in the entry. David is unenumerated, reduced to a "him", a vav [ו].

But then as it just so happens, the Book of Ruth -- the 85-verse birth announcement for King David -- is famous in that all but 8 verses begin with the letter vav.

It goes on, but I have to stop somewhere for now.

Clear dreams shall always guide our eyes
A ray of hope before us lies
Where all is calm forever
On the shores of Avalon

This boat that I am rowing
Will take you where I'm going
To peaceful waters flowing
On the shores of Avalon
