Last month at his Pastors Conference, rank heretic and televangelist Benny Hinn stood before the audience with his son-in-law and made a staggering confession. He said that he told his son-in-law that he would not be able to marry his daughter until they co-habitated for a while first and everyone got to know each other.
Standing with his son-in-law next to him, he said “And before he [son-in-law] was married to my daughter, he lived with us for how long? A year and a half, two years. Because I said, listen, you will not marry my girl till I get to know you. So you’re going to live with us.”
He then said that during the co-habitating period, they traveled a lot together and that he saw a “miraculous change” in his daughter, who had apparently had issues with running with the wrong crowd during her teenage years in Orlando.

I seriously wonder the same thing.
The language is not that ambiguous here. Obviously, if the future son-in-law was living with THEM, as he said, this does not necessarily that his daughter and future son-in-law were actually having sexual intercourse with each other.
In this context, rather, it seems that "cohabitating" simply means "living under the same roof (but in different bedrooms)."
Regards,
It will still give people the wrong idea.
Some people will always "get the wrong idea."
As long as the pastor - somewhere in his delivery - made it quite clear that the young man was merely told to come live under the same roof, that the father might "vet" him, I see abs. nothing wrong with this practice.
Regards,
Because people are easily deceived. Benny Hinn’s nephew doesn’t have much good to say about him, either.
Exactly, and what about Joel Osteen, John Pavlolitz and William Barber, for that matter?!
If that is the context, I have no problem with that.
The father can look for chinks that could prove problematic in a marriage.
It’s Benny Hinn doing the vetting.
I’m not buying anything here.
I agree.
” this does not necessarily that his daughter and future son-in-law were actually having sexual intercourse with each other.”
Uh huh. If a young, hot-for-each-other couple is living under the same roof for “year and a half, two years,” I don’t think we necessarily have to have minds in the gutter to assume there’s approximately a 100% chance they’re engaged in sexual activity. If they’re not, it’s because at least one isn’t really into the other.
Benny Hill was ‘funny’ in a humourous way.
Benny Hinn is ‘funny’ in a warped, strange, demonic way.
My grandfather was stationed in another state when my teenaged parents were engaged, so my father left his family to live in her crowded apartment until he could afford to rent one for their marriage. The couch was all his. Neither my grandparents nor my mom would’ve allowed him to stay there otherwise. There were five in her family, so it was crowded.
Of course, the author had to make Benny Hinn sound like a hypocrite about family members living under the same roof.
Reminds of a rule my mom has...Never sleep with anyone that you wouldnt consider marrying and never marry anyone that you havent slept with.
“Why does that scheisster even have a following?”
Because people desire some spirituality.
We Christians are failing people if we can’t bring them to Christ instead of letting them be victims of Benny Hinn, Jehovah’s witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, Scientologists, etc.
Total charlatan.
