The Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem expresses its strongest condemnation of the Israeli airstrike that have struck its church compound in the city of Gaza.
The Patriarchate emphasizes that targeting churches and their institutions, along with the shelters they provide to protect innocent citizens, especially children and women who have lost their homes due to Israeli airstrikes on residential areas over the past thirteen days, constitutes a war crime that cannot be ignored.
Despite the evident targeting of the facilities and shelters of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem and other churches – including the Episcopal Church of Jerusalem Hospital, other schools, and social institutions – the Patriarchate, along with the other churches, remain committed to fulfilling its religious and moral duty in providing assistance, support, and refuge to those in need, amidst continuous Israeli demands to evacuate these institutions of civilians and the pressures exerted on the churches in this regard.
The Patriarchate stresses that it will not abandon its religious and humanitarian duty, rooted in its Christian values, to provide all that is necessary in times of war and peace alike.
“Humanitarians” don’t support people who rape and slaughter people and behead babies.
Believe what?
Those ‘institutions’ are also where they locate their weaponry and munitions.
Exactly to use the occupants as human shields.
You don’t wipe out a big wasp nest under the carport by spraying the grass.
Orthodox Christians don’t do that!
If they shelter fellow muslims from air strikes they are just doing what Jesus told them to do and saving lives. I can’t think of a better way to lead them to Christ, can you? That one good thing you do plants a small mustard seed into someone that grows. They remember and maybe one day they too become Palestinian Christians.
You say Hamas has lost their humanity but dammit none of you seem to have any.
Phase Two of the Hamas campaign is being fought on social media.
Have they condemned Hamas for hiding their murderers and weapons in those “humanitarian” institutions?
Hamas blows up a hospital and then blames Israel for it. What would people expect from beasts that just go into a town and murders children and babies in the most barbaric fashion?
There are NO humanitarian institutions in pali lands
Your understanding of those murderers is very delusional
Unless they have convincing evidence that those churches are actively harboring terrorists, they should not be targeting churches. For their own sake. For they will have to answer to God some day.
There have never been any humanitarians in Gaza.
Did it even happen? Verify your sources before publishing!
They supported the monsters. They ARE monsters.
Are orthodox Christians supposed to bear false witness against their neighbor? For example, are they to assert innocents were targeted by the IDF when the IDF was likely targeting military targets nearby?
I’m not sure hamas had humanity to lose.
“The only way to eliminate war is to love our children more than we hate our enemies.”
Golda Meir
People shouldn’t be surprised by this.
The Christians who live in the Middle East are very anti-Israel. Zionism led to the seizing of much Christian land.
The largest communities in Lebanon and Syria hate Israel as much as the Muslims. Many of the most devastating terrorist attacks on Israel were organized by Palestinian Christians.
All you would need in those churches is Muslims Palestinians and there are your terrorists.
Unless they have convincing evidence that those churches are actively harboring terrorists,
I despise terrorists, Christian or otherwise. I don’t believe one can be a terrorist and a Christian. The terms are mutually exclusive. I came to that at a young age growing up in an IRA supporting American Christian home. I’d have ratted out every one of them if I had the chance.
