The AI God’s New Eyes: How Your WiFi Can See You Throughout Your Home

WiFi is electromagnetic waves in the 2.4 and 5 GHz ranges. It’s the same thing as the light you see, only it can penetrate walls due to its much longer wavelength. Just like light (and echolocation) these waves also reflect off various surfaces and, when reconstructed properly, can be used to create an image.

Lots of electromagnetic waves, regardless of frequency or wavelength, can pass through walls. Radiotelescopes have produced images for decades.

It can get worse, I don't wear PJ's.

Thanks, but what's with a 54 word excerpt (100 can be shown in leads and 300 for excerpts.., 277 more meat:

Development of this technology goes back at least as far as July 2005, where researchers claimed at an IEEE Symposium that they had created an ultra-wideband high-resolution short pulse imaging radar system operating around 10 GHz. The applications for which were explicitly for military and police use, providing them with “enhanced situation awareness.”...

“The past two years have seen an explosion of methods for passive Wi-Fi imaging.”.. In a 2021 company blog, Liu discusses the development of IEEE 802.11bf, a new WiFi protocol, which is aimed at standardizing WiFi imaging across all devices – thus making it easier for companies such as his to exploit compatible wireless networks...

The perfect WiFi imaging system may have just been introduced to the world in December 2022, when researchers from Carnegie Mellon University married the latest in WiFi sensing technology to a human form estimation engine known as DensePose.

DensePose is a technology developed by Meta/Facebook, beginning in 2018. It’s very similar to the WiPose system we previously discussed and aims at “mapping all human pixels of an RGB image to the 3D surface of a human body.” - https://patriotandliberty.com/the-ai-gods-new-eyes-your-wifi-can-see-you-throughout-your-home/

If be happy to have any decent wifi, even if they could see my pathetic 75-year-old image. Limping along on a horrid Verizon hotspot until we can find a provider.

(Xfinity has promised, but it appears they lied.)

Interesting article.

But your wifi can't see you in your house if you simply turn it off. If you're using a computer (or a TV) with a direct connection, you don't need wifi.

We struggle along with Hughes.net but we upgraded to the Fusion plan that uses satellite and cell signal.

My brother’s family also struggled with Hughes. A company named Armstrong Internet came into the area and now their Internet is strong and dependable. They’re in rural western NY. I didn’t ask about cost, but they don’t have money so I figure it’s reasonable.

They have been putting up some kind of fiber optic cable this week but even if it’s Internet, I’m locked back into the contract for a while longer. We have been struggling with Hughes since 2002. LOL

The new Fusion plan works really good considering that our cell phones barely work in the house. It took a few tries to find the best signal in the house for the Fusion cell antenna, but I finally found a spot. Sometimes I have to use the Wifi on the car to use the cell phone. 😕 The house is a 70-year-old farmhouse with a metal roof. I put new low-e windows in it so there is a lot of stuff blocking signals besides living back in the hills.

I have never heard of Armstrong Internet, so I doubt it’s local.

FR allows that many words. Other sites have their own strict limitations.

That’s when they turn on the imbedded Camera in Your TV that is using 1 Pixel as the Camera Lens.

The same thing that Your Smartphone uses when You reverse the camera so You can take a Selfie.

If you don’t wear PJs, and aren’t Cindy Crawford, I suggest closing the curtains.

I don’t have a smart TV, but don’t they have to be turned on for the camera to be activated?
