Roman you wrote: “Woke Churches don’t teach Prophecy and they don’t even care about the Return of their King.
Is that too harsh?”
Are you equating churches that dont teach prophecy as being “woke”? The church I go to teaches scripture thru expository preaching. For example when we started the gospel of John we started it in June of 2018 and finished it earlier this year. When/if the text called for touching on certain topics, prophecy or not, they were addressed.
The main scope of preaching in ANY church should be the Gospel and Christ crucified NOT prophecy. Prophecy DOES NOT give people hope, as is seen in the quote below from the article. What gives people hope is the gospel and the promises of God and knowing who God is in His attributes that whatever happens God is good, He is merciful and has a purpose in all that occurs. That is what what gives me hope. Knowing WHO He is, what He has done.
Quote from the article “I know one thing, Satan sure doesn’t want Believers to study prophecy because it gives people hope. Through prophecy we find out we can live boldly in the face of the approaching storm because we know we’ll be rescued before the Wrath of God is unleashed on the earth”
In the above quote prophecy doesnt give me strength to live boldly, the Holy Spirit does!!! God saying what will eventually happen doesnt make me live boldly...Knowing WHO God is and His attributes makes me live boldly!!!! The article is very shallow, IMHO, and doesnt go deeper to the real reason we can live boldly...and that reason is GOD and WHO HE IS!!!!
Also you wrote: “I would suggest your average church going coddled Western Christians would abandon Jesus at the first sign of persecution.”
The reason why some would abandon Christ with persecution is becasue those who would abandon Jesus were not believers in the first place. A true believer would never fall completely away because they will be kept by the power of the Spirit, Peter being an example. He denied Jesus but He returned because of the promise of God and the Spirit working in his life. Those believers who suffered under communism did not live and suffer for Christ due to their knowing prophecy but rather because they KNEW HIM.
2 Tim 1:8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God. 9 He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, 10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 11 And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher. 12 That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.
Dig deeper!!!!
I think he’s just simply saying that “social gospel”-type churches don’t teach Bible Prophecy. And I agree with that notion.
He’s not saying that every church that doesn’t teach Bible prophecy is Woke.
Yeah you clearly don’t get it.
Christ crucified was Prophecy at one point and I bet you couldn’t even point out which books and verses discussed it in the OT.
Christ coming back IS HOPE.
If you don’t want HIM to come back or think His Coming Kingdom isn’t something to hope for then why in the world do you even identify as a Christian?
Maybe you are woke?
Jesus himself said we were to look to the sky. A lot of churches don’t talk about sin and where it can lead you. Maybe your pastor don’t want to hurt no one’s feelings.
