Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

John 10

The Good Shepherd and His Sheep

10 “Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.” 6 Jesus used this figure of speech, but the Pharisees did not understand what he was telling them.

7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.[a] They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.

14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. 17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

19 The Jews who heard these words were again divided. 20 Many of them said, “He is demon-possessed and raving mad. Why listen to him?”

21 But others said, “These are not the sayings of a man possessed by a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and our God
How Bright and Warm and Radiant is Your Name!
Your Glory is Overwhelming,
It Transcends Everything We Can Imagine.
You Give Life and Healing to your Creation
You Fill Our Hungry Hearts
And Give Nourishment to our Souls.
Let us Love You
With our Whole Heart,
Our Whole Soul,
Our Whole Mind,
And Our Whole Strength!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly... John 10:10 KJV.”

I'm not a prosperity gospel guy ...

but this is my favorite snip-it of the verse....
because of what it truly means. A lot of depth in there.

Since early childhood, I have been fascinated with the art of Ancient Egypt. At the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, there is an amazing Egyptian Collection, including entire limestone and granite walls that are intricately carved. A puzzling feature of these walls in a gateway or door that goes nowhere. Archaeologists call these "False Doors", and ascribe some kind of mythical reason for their existence. Whatever the original intent of the False Door, it represents to me all the false religious movements that promise everything but deliver nothing. People are desperate for meaning in their lives and will try anything.

Last night, at an Open Mike, I sang this song: Me Kealoha Ku'u Home'o Kahalu. I did it as a mash-up with the Grateful Dead Song "Ripple", which is a song about how everything we do touches everybody else, like ripples in still water. I expected a hostile reaction because it was a group of hip young musicians and old hippies, in one of the most Liberal towns in America. It was totally a "spur of the moment" decision, and the bass player had never heard the song before so it was a bit of a struggle for him.

I was very surprised at the reaction. After the song, several people confided that they don't believe the official explanation for the Maui Fire. In fact, their responses totally belied the hipster, liberal Image of the crowd. Now, I don't think that all these people are going to magically change over night, but it is possible that a disaster of such monstrous proportions may have opened some eyes.

What people are seeing is that the Government, the Media, the Elites, and the Oligarchs do NOT have their interests at heart. All those "Doors of Opportunity" are False Doors leading nowhere.

When Jesus described Himself as the "Door" to the sheepfold, His imagery was instantly recognizable to His audience. There was only one gate into the sheepfold. Sheep from many different folds were penned up at night to protect them from predators. The sheep knew the voice of their shepherd, and, in the morning, each shepherd would call out his flock. So while there were a number of shepherds, flocks, and breeds of sheep, there was only ONE gate to get in.

Perhaps it is the Exclusive claim of Jesus as being the ONLY Way, the Only Gate, and the Chief Shepherd that annoys people.

It is natural to expect people to be hostile to the message. But...go ahead. Sing the song. The reaction my surprise you.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 78 (1-31)

A Maskil of Asaph.

1 Give ear, O my people, to my teaching;
incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2 I will open my mouth in a parable;
I will utter dark sayings from of old,
3 things that we have heard and known,
that our ancestors have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their children;
we will tell to the coming generation
the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might,
and the wonders that he has done.

5 He established a decree in Jacob,
and appointed a law in Israel,
which he commanded our ancestors
to teach to their children;
6 that the next generation might know them,
the children yet unborn,
and rise up and tell them to their children,
7 so that they should set their hope in God,
and not forget the works of God,
but keep his commandments;
8 and that they should not be like their ancestors,
a stubborn and rebellious generation,
a generation whose heart was not steadfast,
whose spirit was not faithful to God.

9 The Ephraimites, armed with* the bow,
turned back on the day of battle.
10 They did not keep God’s covenant,
but refused to walk according to his law.
11 They forgot what he had done,
and the miracles that he had shown them.
12 In the sight of their ancestors he worked marvels
in the land of Egypt, in the fields of Zoan.
13 He divided the sea and let them pass through it,
and made the waters stand like a heap.
14 In the daytime he led them with a cloud,
and all night long with a fiery light.
15 He split rocks open in the wilderness,
and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep.
16 He made streams come out of the rock,
and caused waters to flow down like rivers.

17 Yet they sinned still more against him,
rebelling against the Most High in the desert.
18 They tested God in their heart
by demanding the food they craved.
19 They spoke against God, saying,
‘Can God spread a table in the wilderness?
20 Even though he struck the rock so that water gushed out
and torrents overflowed,
can he also give bread,
or provide meat for his people?’

21 Therefore, when the Lord heard, he was full of rage;
a fire was kindled against Jacob,
his anger mounted against Israel,
22 because they had no faith in God,
and did not trust his saving power.
23 Yet he commanded the skies above,
and opened the doors of heaven;
24 he rained down on them manna to eat,
and gave them the grain of heaven.
25 Mortals ate of the bread of angels;
he sent them food in abundance.
26 He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens,
and by his power he led out the south wind;
27 he rained flesh upon them like dust,
winged birds like the sand of the seas;
28 he let them fall within their camp,
all around their dwellings.
29 And they ate and were well filled,
for he gave them what they craved.
30 But before they had satisfied their craving,
while the food was still in their mouths,
31 the anger of God rose against them
and he killed the strongest of them,
and laid low the flower of Israel.

Love the song, Ripple!

When you mentioned the false doors I thought of the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, CA. Sarah Winchester, window of the gun maker, was in the occult and kept building misleading passages and false to confuse the spirits that haunted her from the deaths due to the Winchester rifle.

Too bad she didn’t find refuge in the Door.

Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.

I love the song too. It was an interesting mash-up, in light of what’s going on in the world.
