(2 Peter 1:20) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (Isaiah 28:10) For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: (Isaiah 28:13) But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
The context was another human. A sinner. If Mary is alive in Heaven now or not has no bearing on ZBs status was the point. But it does give credence to the fact that the Mary Cult is out of their jurisdiction in regards to what Scripture tells us.
Romans 14 should apply to both sides. In my experience, it does not, and that may be where some problems may fester and resist efforts to heal.
Many generations back, one particularly wild female ancester of mine managed to get herself excommunicated, so she went to the Protestant church, and we have been Protestant ever since. My Catholic friends immediately started calculating how many generations, and happily told me that I was eligible to come back. That was nice, and I’ve been to Catholic as well as Protestant churches, believing that one might be saved by Jesus, rather than by whether you come from Paul... or Peter.
I do think suspect that there may be a problem with machinations on the Catholic side to turn this country into a majority Catholic country (as they may believe that Protestants don’t count as Christians) and bring it under the authority of Rome. The abortion issue makes a great poison pill to get Democrats elected who favor not building a wall. I do think that God is greater than any of His servants, or power-hungry people masquerading as servants, and God’s will, will be done.
Luke 1:46-55 And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit ... Luke 1:46-55 NIV. And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name.
Wasn't a virgin after the rituals were completed for Jesus either...
Note: Christ spent +30 years in a sin-steeped world.
You’re going to get that anywhere sinful humans jockey for position.
>> “Because none of us are sinless, all of us fall short of God’s glory.”
What do sinner and sinless mean? What does “all of us” mean? What is the glory of God?
Has a newborn committed sin? Can a newborn be called a sinner?
If we say that, no, a newborn has not committed sin, then we have to say that all of us does not mean each and every one of us.
The Catholic Church teaches that the newborn does have sin, the inherited sin of Adam, and that baptism frees the baptised from this Original Sin.
And yet before Jesus was even born, Mary calls God her Savior. And this is why the Church teaches that Mary’s conception was special, immaculate, in that God stepped in and “saved” her from Original Sin, so that He would have a pure vessel into which the Holy Spirit could conceive Jesus. She, like the rest of us, needed the action of God to be freed from Original Sin.
True, had she no sin she would not need a Savior
God has always had believers who didn't bow the knee to Baal. Thankfully!
I should have included you in my post to BipolarBob just above. My apologies!
I am puzzled by your distinction between going to the Cross and going to Jesus? Why would anyone go to the Cross without Jesus?
Interesting chart.
Thanks
Yeah, well "the Church" is wrong. And not the first time if you look at their history. Mary needed a Savior too.
Certainly. Christ came to John the Baptist to be baptized.
He was man in addition to God.
Well you can’t have it both ways. The Catholic church was Christianity for a very long time so I guess nobody went to heaven for 1,000 years. Because pretty much that was the only game in town. I doubt too many people subscribe to that theory. 😏
Shmi was the virgin mother of Anakin Skywalker, the boy who ultimately became Darth Vader.
Anakin's father was "The Force."
You are exactly right. The new is in the old concealed; the old is in the new revealed
What is the purpose of this? What are Protestants always trying to pick fights with Catholics? Pull the Beam out of your own eye. My question for you is how do you know what books belong in the Bible you read?
—> The Catholic church was Christianity for a very long time so I guess nobody went to heaven for 1,000 years.
No. Christians - saved believers in Christ - existed before error came into the churches, adding pagan practices.
But even in the dark hours centuries, God drew believers to Himself for salvation.
Yes Rome frequently martyred them, including children and babies.
But His Gospel of Grace has continued and people continue to be saved today.
Glad you asked.
Jesus (God) came to Earth because only a sinless "person" could pay for the sins of humanity and rescue us.
Christ came and went to the Cross to redeem us.
If there were someone already here on Earth who was sinless, that would have changed the entire narrative.
If Mary had been sinless, she could have been the sinless "lamb" for sacrifice. She could have paid our price by going to the Cross.
Of course, that was not the case because only Jesus is sinless.
Hope that clears up my comment.
