You know MM, maybe there was some Biblical reason for it. I think it came from the 1st Holy Spirit inspired letter of Enmerkar, to the people of Eridu. John was agreeing to take the responsibility of Mary as his mother under the law.

It is a testimony to the love of Christ, but also fulfilling the Law to honor His parents by providing for Mary.

God told Joseph to not fear to take Mary AS HIS WIFE.

He clearly knew the prophecies about the Messiah being virgin born. After Mary gave birth there was NO reason whatsoever, that she need remain a virgin. Since God commanded him to take her AS HIS WIFE, that entails all that a marriage is about.

Nether did God command Joseph to NOT have sex with Mary.

Seventh Day Adventists are Protestants too. They also publicly proclaim Sola Scriptura and are vehemently antiCatholic. How is the pedigree of their faith communities represented here any different in pedigree, authority, or virtue than those represented by the antiCatholics here ?
