(2 Peter 1:20) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (Isaiah 28:10) For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: (Isaiah 28:13) But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
Like DOCTOR Luke or the Holy Spirit, who breathed out the Scripture, couldn't tell the difference between *firstborn* and *only*?????
Words mean things and the Holy Spirit was very precise about how things were inspired. And He doesn't need anyone who thinks they need to improve on His work messing with it.
Come on, af…..not the failed it’s hard to translate argument.
So very true. The other so called infancy gospels are equally as bad.
Yes. That was BEFORE the ruling to which the WHOLE church supported. What part of this sequence are you not understanding.
Nope. And notice the answer was based on scripture.
Shall we discuss the so called “Holy days of obligation?”
Cultic Placemarker!
“Come get yer Mary Cults, your sabbatarian, barrel-soaking cult, your mormonic verses cult!”
You really need to look it up for yourself.
From Mary being told, and Joseph in his dream,
from messengers of God that the Holy Spirit has come upon her?
And still you do not believe she was filled with the Holy Spirit?
Kecharitomene?
Not unique enough for you?
A pregnant Mary visiting her kinswoman,
even filled Elizabeth with the Holy Spirit by the Real Presence of her pregnant visitation.
smh
Do you honestly think the Holy Spirit is opposed to sex between a husband and wife? .
No and that’s a silly damn deflection here.
No, it’s obvious to everyone that God invented human sexuality for it’s marital purposes.
But why do you diminish the choosing of Mary and Joseph as ordinary?
Why on earth would you equate those 2 people with the run-of-the-mill “sex between husband and wife”?
Do you believe they were called to be different than you or I?
Now- are there times when God was opposed to having sex for his reason alone?
Menstrual Issues aside …, YES.
It is written, that Joseph did – as having been commanded by an Angel of the Lord,
receive the Blessed Virgin as his wife- and - “knew her not, until she brought forth a son..”
Now you will say aha!.
But lets focus on what the Angel commanded Joseph in his dream.
Just whose idea was it that Joseph was to “know her not”?
Reading the text, it can be implied that the Angel told Joseph not to consummate their marriage until after the birth of Jesus.
Now I will say “until” is not definitive to say Joseph was waiting for his opportunity.
That requires an extra-biblical study of biased Christians.
But it is understandable, and probable that Joseph was commanded not to have intercourse with the Virgin Mary at this time.
Why ? To maintain the scripture that a Virgin “will hold and will bear a son….”
After all, the Angel even pointed out this “virgin” prophesy for Joseph.
So yes in THIS instance,
the Holy Spirit WAS OPPOSED to sex here with the first family.
Is it such a stretch then to believe -
that Joseph, AS A RIGHTEOUS man,
would not hold such a Holy Reverence for the Womb that GOD impregnated-
and gave us the Savior of the World?
That he could not hold back his human hormonal urges… as Christ would say later…
FOR THE SAKE Of the Kingdom of Heaven?
If believing in that is wrong, I’ll take my chances…
You are aware, aren't you, that believers are the temple of the Holy Spirit,
who is in us?
Does that preclude sex between husband and wife for believers? .
Well I don’t know anything about that sort of self-proclamation,
but in the case of the Blessed Virgin Mary -
Angels of the Lord had TOLD HER such was given to her.
That’s why it is WRITTEN,
“Henceforth ALL generations will call me “Blessed”.
How about we start calling her that, Blessed?
He was around at least until Jesus was 12 years old
Luke 2:48-50
48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”
49 “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”[a] 50 But they did not understand what he was saying to them.
Did He and Mary split up?
What would YOU do?
From all four books in a quad.
Thanks for being so specific.
Much more specific information in JST of Genesis, P of GP, and D & C section 45.
Could you be a little more helpful?
8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us.9 He did not discriminate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith.10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear?11 No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are."
Romans 15:15-16
15 Yet I have written you quite boldly on some points to remind you of them again, because of the grace God gave me 16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles. He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
I think you’ve put your finger on it.
Heck; a LOT of Americans are barely able to understand English these days.
The ‘thees’ and ‘thous’ of King James english vocabulary of the 1600s would surely throw them into a loop.
And don’t even get me started on the English of Shakespearian days, or Middle English, or...
How about the bebop slang of the 30’ & 40’s??
23 skidoo!
